• The Other Darrin:
  • Joaquin Phoenix did not reprise his role as Kenai for the sequel due to scheduling conflicts. Patrick Dempsey replaced him. ^note Both actors share Kenai as their only voice acting role to date.
  • In the Brazilian dub of the second movie, Kenai was voiced by Peterson Adriano^note Peterson also replaced Selton Mello as the voice of Kuzco in Kronk's New Groove, while Rutt and Tuke were voiced by Guilherme Briggs and Waldyr Sant'anna.
  • In the Japanese dub, Kenai was voiced by the late Kazunari Tanaka.
• The Other Marty: Jason Marsden was initially cast as Phoenix's replacement and recorded all his lines for it. Marsden's dialogue is even heard in the film's early trailers, suggesting that Dempsey was hired late in production.
• What Could Have Been: Brother Bear 2 has some deleted scenes that were unfortunately not included on the DVD Bonus Features:
  • The childhood flashback with a young Nita and Kenai was originally longer, and even included a brief appearance by a young Atka. In the finished product, Nita does not meet Atka until their wedding when they're adults.
  • A scene was considered of Kenai having a nightmare, which included a flashback to Sitka's death from the first movie. With this scene removed, the film doesn't include even a passing reference to Kenai's village or family.
  • An alternate ending was considered where Kenai did decide to become human again in order to be with Nita, but was ultimately scrapped for fear that it would undermine the message and ending of the first film. The finished film instead ends with Nita turning into a bear.
