Trivia / Brock Lesnar

Go To

  • Corpsing: Brock's been known to crack a smile from time to time, but the occasion when 24/7 Champion R-Truth came out to declare (and then promptly undeclare) himself for the Royal Rumble cracked him up so badly he had to lean on the ring ropes to stay upright (particularly as he had no idea it was going to happen).
  • Money, Dear Boy: Lesnar has said he'd be willing to work more dates if the WWE was willing to pay for the extra appearances. In his autobiography Deathclutch, he admitted to learning this philosophy from Curt Hennig, who advised him to "get in to get out" (namely, make your money, then leave the business before fatigue and injuries ruin your body and personal life).
  • Real Life Writes the Plot:
    • Essentially, his gimmick during his return tour has been as an MMA fighter. He even seemed early on to have traded in the F5 (which he had no problem doing, as he showed John Cena immediately) for the Boring, but Practical Kimura lock.
    • Aspects of his fighting that he struggled with as a prizefighter also found his way into his WWE character. Earlier into his return, a strong blow to the stomach would double him over in severe pain, a nod to Lesnar's battle with diverticulitis and mononucleosis in 2012.
    • In 2014, at the Night of Champions pay-per-view during his rematch with John Cena, the only times Cena was able to consistently maintain offense were when he relentlessly pummeled Lesnar with punches, and at WrestleMania 31, Roman Reigns had to do largely the same as Cena did to get Brock reeling and vulnerable; once Reigns had an opening to collect his breath and get some real offense in, he had to hit Brock with three Superman Punches in order to floor him. One of Lesnar's biggest criticisms as an MMA fighter was that he was extremely uncomfortable with being punched.
  • Real Song Theme Tune: Enter Sandman by Metallica in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
  • Reclusive Artist: Brock has a twitter, but he hasn't used it since April 2020, and even then its only purporse seemed to be for retweeting Paul Heyman's tweets about him. Other than that, Brock has no presence on social media, so updates on him are hard to come by. He also rarely makes any public appearances and has admitted that he doesn't like being around people for the most part.
  • Referenced by...: At CHIKARA The Secret Of The Ooze, March 19, 2016, during the CHIKARA Grand Champion Princess Kimberlee vs. Heidi Lovelace match, Kim's suplexes led to the crowd chanting "SUPLEX KINGDOM! SUPLEX KINGDOM!" Kim incorporated that into her merchandise.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanour: In late January 2024, TKO and 2K Games both declared intentions to distance themselves from him due to the fact that he is the only wrestler on the card who fits the description given as part of the below-mentioned lawsuit. This caused any and all promotion of Brock to end immediately, with all his merchandise burned off, with strong implications that he will be removed from all WWE content, including the upcoming WWE 2K24 game, permanently. Softened somewhat for the videogame as he's still in the game, but is only playable in the game's Showcase mode without mods. Time will tell if the modding community can fix that like they did with the much maligned My Faction which 2K finally learned its lesson about and made My Faction characters playable outside the mode, reducing modders workload a LOT.
  • Romance on the Set: Had a fiancĂ©e and a baby waiting at home, but then he met Sable. Today, they're married and are raising two kids together.
  • Throw It In!: His grabbing Cody Rhodes's hand and lifting it after their match was apparently spontaneous on Brock's part.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Lesnar's original gimmick was supposed to be a Husky Russkie Foreign Wrestling Heel. Paul Heyman doesn't like it, even going so far as to tell Lesnar that he'll be leaving after six months due to that gimmick. So in the end, Lesnar settled for "The Next Big Thing" and "The Beast" gimmicks.
    • His WWE Championship match with Bob Holly could have been better if Triple H and Shawn Michaels hadn't severely ran over their time limit.
    • He was originally supposed to wrestle Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 32. However, the main event of Fastlane 2016 was a triple threat between Lesnar, Dean Ambrose, and Roman Reigns for a world title shot at 'Mania, with the focus of the build being between Ambrose and Lesnar so Reigns winning could be seen as a surprise (it wasn't, but that's neither here nor there). Ambrose did such a great job with the build that it was determined that a match between him and Lesnar was guaranteed to draw more, so they changed his opponent to Ambrose the week of Fastlane.
    • There are also rumours of Lesnar's third Universal Title run lasting up to WrestleMania 36 but according to a professional wrestling journalist, Heyman is not interested with Lesnar having another long Universal Title reign and would rather work on full-time superstars due to his current position in real life, so the WWE put the Universal Title back on Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2019 instead.
    • Aside from Drew McIntyre, there was consideration for Brock to wrestle Aleister Black at Wrestlemania XXXVI.
    • Kurt Angle nearly got Lesnar into TNA but it didn't go through due to the financial issues.
    • Lesnar was slated for many plans in 2024, including an appearance at Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and a challenge against Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship Title at WrestleMania XL. These plans were wiped off the table when Vince McMahon was hit with the new lawsuit accusing him of sex trafficking, rape, and other misconduct, which implicated an unnamed "world-famous athlete and former UFC Heavyweight Champion with whom WWE was actively trying to sign a new contract" as being involved, with news publications identifying in reports as Lesnar. With the reports coming out just a day before Royal Rumble, he was swapped out with Bron Breakker at the last minute.
