Trivia / Bless the Harts

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Fortune Feimster provides the voices for Brenda and Bobby-Nelle.
  • Art Shift: While the intro to the pilot (the pilot is actually the second episode aired) was originally animated in Flash for the previews on Fox, it was later re-done traditionally for the release.
  • The Cast Showoff: Kristen Wiig does her own singing in “Jenny Unfiltered” and “Cremains of the Day”
  • Dawson Casting: Teenage Violet is voiced by thirty three year old Jillian Bell.
  • Descended Creator: Creator Emily Spivey also provides the voice for Jenny's boss Louise.
  • Executive Meddling: Fox executives found Randy obnoxious and unlikeable so he was removed towards the end of the second season, but since the series would end seven episodes later, it really wouldn't have mattered if he continued to be in the series.
  • Invisible Advertising: Starting with the second season, Fox began advertising the series a lot less. While other shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers and The Great North get their own weekly promos, Bless the Harts would only be included in the general Animation Domination promos. This resulted in a ratings drop that was enough for Fox to justify cancelling it.
    • Outside of social media and network press releases, Fox never advertised the series' final two episodes.
  • Missing Episode: In August 2021, Hulu removed the series finale "Betty's Birthday" from the service from unknown reasons, although the episode is still available to purchase digitally.
  • Out of Order: "Can't Get There From Here", the actual pilot, was supposed to air first, but "Hug N' Bugs" took the spot instead.
  • Schedule Slip: "Crappy Death Day" was originally set to air on January 3, 2021, but was replaced with the series premiere of The Great North, and was later set to air February 14, 2021, but was preempted with the rest of the Animation Domination lineup due to an overrun NASCAR game before finally airing on February 21, 2021. Ironically, the episode dealt with the themes of curses and bad luck.
  • Screwed by the Network: Once The Great North premiered on Fox, they became much more interested in it than Bless the Harts. Little to no promotion of new episodes, a bad time slot, and no reruns after the show ended.
  • Those Two Actors: Betty and Jenny are voiced by Maya Rudolph and Kristin Wiig respectively. Both of them have appeared in Saturday Night Live, Bridesmaids, and Big Mouth.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The pilot and the intro were originally animated in flash, but later in production the series switched to traditional animation, the flash animated intro was still used during the first season.
    • Had the series been renewed for a third season, "Toni with an i" would've been the season two finale and "Tiny Pies" and "Betty's Birthday" would've aired during the third season.
    • "Betty's Birthday" originally ended with the police officer driving the Harts home and Betty flashing a trucker, but after the series was cancelled, the crew changed it to the more heartfelt scene we have now.
  • Word of Saint Paul: In the show, Betty seems to think that Violet is a preteen. Violet’s voice actress, Jillian Bell, has stated that Violet is thirteen.
  • Write What You Know: The show was inspired by creator Emily Spivey's experiences growing up in High Point, North Carolina.
