- Pop-Culture Urban Legends: One rumor that persisted for years was that he had actual heat with brief part-timer Ted Arcidi, and it was said that in their 1986 match at the Boston Garden that Studd was leigitimately throwing stiff shots at him. Arcidi himself would debunk this years later, stating that they were both close friends in real life, and that Studd helped Arcidi try to make the match look as realistically rough as possible.

- After he quit WWF for the final time, he had some negotiation meetings with WCW. Sadly, his health caught up with him when a possible deal was getting close.
- Before he took a small hiatus from wrestling in late 1986, there was a teased breakup angle between him and King Kong Bundy. One rumor has it that if Studd stuck around for the next year, the two would've had a match at Wrestlemania III.
