- Author's Saving Throw: As with post-Michael Bay outing Bumblebee, critics praised Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah for course-correcting away from long-standing Michael Bay detriments (juvenile humor, cut-a-second editing, derogatory attitude towards women, excessive runtime) and doubling down on the characters' heart and humanity while still delivering on the action people came to see.
- B-Team Sequel: Michael Bay has a cameo in this movie but didn't direct it, Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah did.
- Breakthrough Hit: The critical and box office success of the film put the names of Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah on the map in Hollywood and got them big gigs such as Ms. Marvel and a Batgirl film (the latter was shelved, however).
- Multiple Languages, Same Voice Actor: Paola Nuñez and Kate del Castillo reprise their roles as Rita and Isabel in the Latin American Spanish dub.
- Saved from Development Hell: Work on a third Bad Boys movie initially began in 2009 when Peter Craig was hired to develop a screenplay, with Joe Carnahan joining in 2015. Due to scheduling conflicts with various cast and crew members, the project languished for years, and Sony Pictures ultimately pulled the film from its release schedule with series star Martin Lawrence doubting that a sequel would be happening later that month. However, after Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle became a surprise hit for Sony at the end of the year, which prompted the studio to begin reviving multiple non-Spider-Man properties the studio had under its belt and pull Bad Boys for Life out of development hell once and for all, with Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah being hired to direct in February 2018 and principal photography to begin in January 2019.
- Sequel Gap: 17 years passed between Bad Boys II and this film.
