• While preparing to write his novel, Gary Jennings decided to live in Mexico for twelve years. In an Publishers Weekly interview with John F. Baker, Gary Jennings told him that he'd learned to interpret ancient pictures and codices. He was apparently also able to read Nahuatl. Shown Their Work, indeed.
