Trivia / Armor of God

Go To

  • The Danza: Jackie Chan's character is called Jackie. Who would have thought it?
  • Fatal Method Acting: Almost happened here when Jackie Chan was filming a stunt shot. The tree branch he jumped to snapped and he fell fifteen feet; it took eight hours of surgery and a plastic plug to replace the lost skull fragments. Filming stopped for a month to let Jackie recover.
  • Non-Actor Vehicle: Alan Tam in the first movie is actually from iconic Hongkong Boy Band The Wynners, all of whom get to appear in the movie.
  • Onset Injury: Jackie Chan attempted to jump onto a tree branch, but missed and fell headfirst to the ground below, suffering multiple injuries including a brain haemorrhage, a broken skull, jaw and nose, and losing several teeth. He was rushed to hospital for emergency brain surgery and now has a plastic plug covering a hole in his skull, hidden beneath his hair.
  • Product Placement: Mitsubishi Motors built a custom Colt Targa vehicle for the film. Also, a number of Pajeros driven by the antagonists get totalled.
  • Sequel First: The North American release of Armor of God II, retitled simply Operation Condor, came six years after its release in Hong Kong... before the original Armour of God. When the original finally made it across the Pacific (direct-to-video, no less) it was retitled Operation Condor 2: The Armour of the Gods. Confused, yet?
  • What Could Have Been: Cynthia Rothrock was originally supposed to star in the film, but after shooting was halted while Jackie Chan recovered from his near-fatal injury, she was "reassigned" to the Corey Yuen movie Righting Wrongs (which had the same producer).
