  • Acting for Two: Heidi Klum voices both Jade and Bertha.
  • All-Star Cast: The film features the voices of Jeremy Renner, Heidi Klum, Omar Sy, Anjelica Huston, James Franco, Michael Madsen, Laurie Holden, John Cleese, and Alec Baldwin.
  • Box Office Bomb: Budget, $50 million (estimated). Box office, $5,801,249 (domestic), $9,841,678 (worldwide). Its first weekend of release (during a slow period for family films three weeks before the release of Frozen II) saw this film grossing a mere $2,901,335 at the domestic box office, which is the worst opening of all-time for a film playing at over 2,800 theaters, likely as a result of a lack of marketing and poor critical reception.
  • Invisible Advertising: In the US, the film did poorly due to barely getting any kind of promotion at all, with the first trailer only came out a mere four months before the film's theatrical release, which for an animated film is a pretty small window.
  • International Coproduction: The film is a Canada, United States, and United Kingdom co-production with its animation done in India and post-production in Italy.
  • Not Screened for Critics: There was not a critics-focused screening before the film's release, and the critics who saw the film after its release panned it anyway... but it was so late before the release, and ultimately so little that the film's Rotten Tomatoes page didn't register any rating at all until the following Monday.
  • Release Date Change: The film was set for a release in 2018 but due to several rewrites it was later pushed to 2019.
  • Voices in One Room: Jeremy Renner and Anjelica Huston recorded some of their dialogue together.
  • What Could Have Been: Early and alternative promo material under the overseas title of Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad implied that the movie was originally going to be much more focused on the conflict with Otto Van Walrus rather than concentrating most of the story on Swifty's goal of becoming a sled dog.
    • Otto Von Walrus was originally named Doc Walrus, and his clothes were pink and black instead of red.
    • Bertha was named Weez and Leopold was Sal.
    • Magda was named Maureen.
    • Todd Kauffman made several designs to Otto Von Walrus's pod, with one of them have wheels before being replaced by robotic spider-like legs.
    • Swifty's jacket didn't have feathers.
    • Leopold originally wore a Ushanka hat.
    • The South Korean studio Redrover was one of the studios optioned to animate the film. But at the time where the film was in production they were too busy working on The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature, so Assemblage Entertainment was replaced instead.
