- Creative Differences: Olli-Pekka Laine left the band in 2000 due to disliking the direction they were taking in Tuonela. He eventually changed his mind, however, since he returned in late 2017.
- Far From The Sun was somewhat of a compromise album because of this, as none of the band members had any clear idea what direction they should be taking. Pasi Koskinen eventually left the band due to the lack of motivation, as his side project band Ajattara took more and more his time and dedication.
- Creator Backlash: Far From The Sun is band's least favorite album, and they rarely play songs from it.
- Promoted Fanboy: Tomi Joutsen was a long-time fan of Amorphis before he joined the band.
