Trivia tropes for A Girl and Her Bike:

  • Accidentally-Correct Writing: Raven has an incredibly low opinion of Summer Rose in this story, accidentally reflecting on the fact Volume 9 reveals she was literally the last person to see her alive and well.
  • Creator Backlash: SwapAUAnon has made it clear that he isn't fond of how he wrote Ironwood in chapters preceding Chapter 11 of Volume 1. This was because Ironwood barely resembled his series' portrayal and he felt subjecting him to Adaptational Villainy resulted in Ozpin and Glynda inadvertently being subjected to Adaptational Dumbass, since it made it questionable at best why they ever trusted him. He later went back and altered these chapters so that Ironwood's characterization would better match how he was in the web series.
  • Creator's Pest: Swap admits that of all the characters in the story, Adam Taurus is the one he hates the most. This is due to his horrific domestic abuse of Blake, resulting in writing for him being an incredibly discomforting experience.
  • Follow the Leader: SwapAUAnon has stated that the story is inspired by Cyclone and Cody Fett's Spark to Spark, Dust to Dust.
  • Hypothetical Casting: The end of Chapter 15 reveals the various VAs the characters are meant to have, such as Garret Hunter voicing Bumblebee in present day, Dan Green as Theodore, and Kerry Shawcross as Hot Rod, just to name a few examples.
  • What Could Have Been: The author's tumblr page (and Spacebattles author's notes) includes behind the scenes discussion regarding the making of a new chapter and what was originally planned in the writing process.
    • The two soldiers (later named Rose and Gil) Yang encountered in "Cultural Exchange" would have been much worse than originally presented, with one even expressing disappointment for being unable to shoot Faunus for existing in Vale. This was cut due to reflecting poorly on Winter for having such soldiers in her company and was seen as too much of an exaggeration of Faunus racism.
    • Taiyang was originally going to contact Ozpin in regard to Bumblebee after Qrow left their discussion and do so using encoded messaging, but it was decided that it'd make more sense for him to simply contact Ozpin as soon as Bumblebee finished his story and encoding the message made no sense for him to do.
    • Yang was originally planned to express attraction to Blake when they first encountered, but it didn't fit in organically, so it was decided not to be included. Though it was later added after a way to make it sound natural was found.
    • Shatter and Dropkick originally weren't going to appear in "Close Encounters", but SwapAUAnon decided to include them to establish how much of a threat they would pose to the heroes.
    • After his loss, Adam was originally going to start beating Blake up to blow off steam, but this was cut since the author felt it was too gratuitous and there were already scenes that showcased his domestic abuse of his partner.
    • Dropkick was originally going to employ Earth Dust combos and his Ice Dust would have had a more graphic effect. The former wasn't used while the latter was changed since both would've bumped up the fic to an M rating.
    • Bumblebee was at one point going to drop dialogue that the Autobots once encountered a three-headed golden dragon on an alien planet, but it was cut due to being unable to fit in naturally.
    • Chapter 7 of Volume 1 was going to have Bumblebee explain the history of the Thirteen Primes to Yang, but that never made it in.
    • Rose and Gil were originally going to appear earlier in Chapter 7 of Volume 1, attempting to kill Ruby and frame Akai for it. The plot point would have ended with them being arrested and their actions would have led to Winter being forced to leave Patch. This was cut due to being at odds with the tone of the chapter.
    • SwapAUAnon originally planned for Akai to learn about the Autobots during Volume 1, but that was moved to the events of Ruby's Spotlight chapter following the events of the first volume.
    • Blake's Nightmare Side was originally going to be a werehog-styled mutant, with Adam as a hunter, but RWBY: Ice Queendom changed those plans. It also changed the original plan for the chapter to be Blake writing a letter to her parents like in Ruby's one-shot.
  • Word of Gay: The author confirms that Bumblebee identifies as aromantic and asexual (aroace), with the first of the Spotlight chapters confirming this In-Universe.
