Trivia / A Blight on Bonesborough

  • Series Hiatus: The story went on a few breaks in between seasons. After Season 1, nearly a month passed before "Intermission: A Vee-ry Special Episode" was published; Season 2A started almost a month after the second Intermission, and after "The Previous Day's Fib", the story went on break for three months before Season 2B began. A final hiatus between Seasons 2 and 3 only lasted just over a month.
  • Serendipity Writes the Plot: Luz's Palisman isn't described in detail in the epilogue, in part because the author could not settle on a physical appearance for said palisman and, as such, decided not to include it.
  • Shrug of God: Since "Hooty's Moving Hassle" was Adapted Out, Eda probably has her Hexes Hold'Em addiction under control due to not throwing her cards away and Masha using regular tarot cards.
  • Throw It In!:
    • The scene between Eda and Principal Bump at the end of "Double Trouble" was made for the heck of it and to explain how things work for Luz attending Hexside.
    • The Gravesfield teens' names were taken from other fics, as the author admitted to being a Giver of Lame Names.
    • After "Thanks to Them" premiered, Gemini decided to rename Dahlia to their canon name Masha and included a scene where they came out as non-binary during the Time Skip in "Worlds Apart".
  • What Could Have Been: The fic as a whole wasn't going to exist, the fic the author was going to make being about Eda as a teenager staying in the human realm.
    • "The Intruder" was going to happen with Luz in Eda's place but since Amity got rid of her phone, she couldn't learn the light spell.
    • "Intruder in the Elements" was the original place of the hair dye scene in "Interlude: The Noceda House" as Luz's hair would've turned a bit gray after her transformation, but it was cut when things were changed.
    • "Double Trouble" was originally the seventh chapter to match with Edric and Emira debuting in the seventh episode, but then "Interlude: The Good Witch" was created.
    • Skara was supposed to be a member of the Junior Bad Girl Coven in "The First Week". Another member of Boscha's posse was considered but it was ultimately axed when the grudgby game was added.
    • "Rebel Without a Cause" could've contained a short scene between Luz and Lilith while the latter visited her, but it was cut and the visit merely mentioned.
    • There was consideration for a Settle for Sibling scenario where Lilith would've been attracted to Camila but it would've made her look worse in the S1 finale as it'd have played into her jealousy of Eda.
  • Word of God:
    • The reason Luz, Willow and Gus aren't successful in the moonlight conjuring is because Luz's curse drains magic and interferes with it. Luz also didn't invite Amity to it because she never had a successful conjuring and was too embarrassed to have Amity see her fail, especially after discovering her crush on her.
    • In the Season 1 finale, Luz and Lilith don't each have one of their eyes turned gray due to splitting the curse since Luz's curse wasn't advanced to the point of losing her magic.
