Developed by Neversoft after Harmonix was sold to Electronic Arts to produce the Rock Band series. Released between October 2007-April 2008 for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Windows, and Macintosh. This entry introduced real-life artists making appearances.

     Guitar Hero: World Tour 

Developed by Neversoft. Released between October-November 2008 for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii. A later release was made for Microsoft Windows and Macintosh on July 26, 2009. Introduced its own, distinct instrument setup to compete with Harmonix's Rock Band series. Some distinctions include new guitars with a touch-sensitive tap bar to complement the regular fret buttons, a five-pad-and-kick drum controller, and a "Music Studio" mode to create custom songs.

     Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock 

The last Neversoft-developed game before the franchise was dropped. Released in September 2010 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii. In lieu of playable real-life artists, this entry focused on GH's own characters with unique star-power abilities.

The last Harmonix-developed game before being sold to Electronic Arts. Released exclusively for the PlayStation 2 in July-August 2007.
