Spoiler Page! A ton of the Downer Endings are particularly cruel. Some of the nastier ones include:
- The Endless Moment: Reynardo believes that Zenobia has betrayed him and boards the Imperial Fleet to end her life, as she has destroyed the resistance. Upon boarding the ship, he instantly cuts her down as she welcomes him with a warm smile... dying as she reveals that Lapino is the traitor before he stabs Reynardo in the back, literally.
- Don't Think Twice: Upon confessing their love for one another, Reynardo and Zenobia try to leave the conflict, only to be shot down by a vengeful Lapino. Senobia knocks Lapino into the Abyss, and then Reynardo dies in Zenobia's arms.
- Walking the Cat: After Reynardo causes the destruction of the Rebel Council by leading Zenobia right to their hidden base, he chases after her for revenge. When they meet again, Zenobia makes good on her promise to kill him if she ever saw him again, but weeps over his body as he lays dying, realising too late how she really felt about him.
- Almost Sincere: After a tussle over betraying Zenobia, Reynardo is forced to put her down as she tries to kill him - this drives him to a suicide mission, and despite the fact that he cuts down a distressing large number of the enemy force on his own, his enemies eventually catch up with him and kill him. As he lays dying, Reynardo sees a vision of Zenobia as an angel, reaching out to him... before he's stabbed through the face.
- Run Zenobia Run: After Reynardo briefly resists the Iblis Stone's corruption long enough to spare Zenobia, she takes it from him to have it studied at the Observatory, which he takes as an act of betrayal and proceeds to hunt her down. Along the way he slaughters the scientists and takes the Iblis Stone back, then slaughters the Rebel Counsel at the stone's request when he sees Zenobia surrendering to him. Finally, he confronts Zenobia at the heart of the fleet, and he's regained just enough of his sense to tell her he doesn't want to kill her, but the Stone is completely in control at this point. So Zenobia stabs herself to snap him out of it, then stabs him while his guard is down. Reynardo tearfully thanks her as they both bleed to death.
- The Fox Who's Knees Hurt and Bucket of Death: Both end with Reynardo, armed with the exposed core of the Skyripper, slowly succumb to its radiation while he laments his imminent death over the course of the final level.
