Tear Jerker / Gon

• In Gon and the Wise Old Elephant, Gon helps the titular pachyderm on a journey he's taking. As the reader sees how old and weak the elephant is, the destination becomes obvious...an Elephant Graveyard. When they finally make it, the elephant sheds a tear as his herd trumpets a salute to him. Gon, meanwhile, has no idea what's going on and just starts playing in the bones and settles down for a nap while the elephant slumps down beside him. Then the panels focus on both of them closing their eyes...one of them forever.
