Tearjerker / Unfinished Tales of Númenor and Middle-earth

• The tale of Aldarion and Erendis and their troubled marriage was never finished, but there's something poignantly tragic in the only notes for how the story would end. Erendis, elderly and neglected by her daughter, journeys "unrecognised and alone" to the haven of Rómenna to meet Aldarion once more when he returns from the sea.
  There, it seems, she met her fate, but only the words 'Erendis perished in water in the year 985' remains to suggest how it came to pass.
