Tear Jerker / The Story of Pollyanna, Girl of Love

• Pastor John’s waning health. Pollyanna notices him in pain just before a meeting with the Women’s Aide Society, but her father reassures her that he’s fine. That night, he has a heart attack after he put his daughter to bed. He tries to take some medicine, but he fumbles with the tin and it rolls under the table. And this happens in the first episode.
• Pollyanna meeting her aunt for the first time. She happily hugs her and tries talking about her father only for Polly to tell her to not talk about her father. Then Pollyanna sees one of the other bedrooms and compliments her aunt on her home, upsetting Polly once again. Finally, when Pollyanna arrives at her room, she breaks down crying once she’s alone.
• The death of Pollyanna's father in Episode 3. Poor Pollyanna rings her father's triangle thinking that it will help her to see her father again.
• Pollyanna after she was hit by a car. She seems fine at first with just a minor head wound, but then she suddenly falls down as she’s walking home with Jimmy and tells him she can’t move her legs. Things certainly get worse when Pollyanna overhears her aunt and a doctor from New York saying she may never walk again, especially with Pollyanna‘s heartbreaking wails and Polly being so distraught that her niece overheard the unfortunate news that she faints.
• Episode 25. Pollyanna tells Dr. Chilton that she isn't afraid to die from operation as long as the doctor is with her. This causes Polly and Della moved to tears.
• Episode 26 has Polly remembering her good memories with Pollyanna, while at the same time she's worrying about Pollyanna's operation.
• The aftermath of Dr. Chilton’s death in Episode 43. Everyone is in mourning, including Polly and Tom. Polly starts wearing black all the time, leaving the house unexpectedly to be alone in Chilton’s clinic, and is more withdrawn than before. Tom is so busy in mourning that he’s lost the motivation to work. Both characters’ depression has even caused their families to worry and are trying their best to cheer them up.
• The little scare the children have in episode 48. Pollyanna is trying to cross a chasm on a fallen tree and almost falls off into the river below. Sadie tries to walk across it only to get scared. James tries to get out of his chair to help Pollyanna, but falls to the ground. Even when Jimmy saves her and gets her to solid ground, James can’t help, but curse his inability to save his friend.
