     Character Backstories
  • Several of the characters that appear in the Super RWBY Universe have backstories that can be seen as quite saddening.
    • Nyx Shadow, a member of Team JINXY, lost her home to the Wario Bros in Gusty Gulch to a bet that her father lost. The Wario Bros forced them out of their home and blew it up behind their backs.
    • Xena Ayami, a member of Team JINXY, lost her home and family to war thanks to King Bob-omb. She gets a split personality disorder called Dark Xena/Yagami because of this.
    • Dark Xena/Yagami Ayami, a technical fifth member of Team JINX(Y), is a split personality born from Xena's trauma that lashed out at everything. She was afraid of disappearing and her actions were from the emotional and physical pain she has suffered over the years.
    • Jade Gadd, the leader of Team JINXY, lost her parents at a young age thanks to King Boo. She tried to get them back, but King Boo has other ideas.
    • Iris Icaria, a member of Team JINXY, left her home island out of shame and guilt due to her uncle, Kuro, being crippled by a Grimm called Amon. She has been training in preparation for defeating said Grimm in order to regain her honor and someday make amends with her cousin.
    • Mona Violeta, a member of Team MAJC, lived with a family friend who was a Faunus like her father. She didn't believe that Faunus prejudice was a real thing so, believing herself to be a Faunus, came out to her hometown about it, causing her to be exiled and forced to live in the harsh lands of Vacuo on her own. She took to living in a cave after killing the Grimm who stayed there until she met Camrin. It's hard not to feel sorry for her when she explains what happened in Super RWBY Sunshine after the others examine her pendant, which has a photo of her mother and father inside.
    • Anthony Haylard, the leader of Team MAJC, had a rough childhood with his father spending all of the money he made on creating a dust staff, leading him and his mother to have to fend for themselves. One night, Anthony stole the staff and took to a life of thievery to help sustain himself and his mother, and to exact revenge on the company that wronged him. Jacques didn't take too kindly to this, and sent countless teams of hunters after him for a bounty, dead or alive. One of them cost Anthony his left eye, which served as a constant reminder of his hatred for the SDC, driving his desire for revenge further.
    • Kokoro Kinokoshi, a member of Sea5ons, lost her father at such a very young age and suffered abuse from her alcoholic mother for several years in her hometown at Vacuo. One day, she got into a heated argument with her mother, which caused her to snap and say that she wished her mother died instead of her father. The following morning, she ran away from her hometown in Vacuo together with her pet cat, Yukina, and soon found refuge in the Mushroom Kingdom the day after the Shroob crisis was over. She hardly made contact with her mother ever since that day.
    • Oran Moss, an armadillo Faunus who was born in a mining village that was owned by the SDC where all Faunus were forced to mine the Dust from the mines. That was until one day, a giant King Taijitu started hanging around the mines, leading to the trio of overseers leaving the village to fend for itself, while using explosives to wake the Grimm up. As it started to eat the people in the village, Donovan showed up and drained Oran's parents of their life energy allowing them to get eaten. Leaving Oran the only one left in the village until Kala the Zarude showed up and took Oran with her to live in the wild, with him living in the wild to this very day.

     JNPR'S Mansion
  • King Boo destroys the statues of Jade's parents right in front of her. Naturally, she breaks down crying while King Boo gloats about it.

     Super RWBY Sunshine
  • Ruby, Yang, Tai, and Qrow having a reunion with the ghost of Summer Rose who, for those unfamiliar with RWBY, died when Ruby and Yang were very young. The reunion brought tears to most who read the part. However, it gets even sadder when Summer tells Ruby and Yang not to go after the people responsible for her demise.

     RWBY: DK 64
  • Yang is gloomy during the second half of the story. The reason is because of her Aura being drained due to the malefactions of King K. Rool. She does get better at the end of the story.
  • Ruby breaking down due to believing her sister Yang was killed after King K. Rool fires the Blast-O-Matic. Luckily, Yang is revealed to have survived the blast.

RWBY: Superstar Saga Plus Bowser's Minions
  • Neo went through a lot during the adventure, first she got separated from Bowser and Roman, then she had to fight Roman who lost his memories and after that when they encounter Roman again he doesn't recognize her. It gets to the point that Neo actually shed a few tears as a result.

     RWBY: Partners in Time
  • In a moment of Alas, Poor Villain, Elder Princess Shroob is released from the Cobalt Star right before her sister’s death. Once she’s out, the first thing she does is rush over to her sister’s side, only for her to die in her arms.
  • Ruby getting brutally injured to the point of near-death by Dark Ruby at the end of Partners in Time, leading to her running away in shame.

     JINX Star Allies
  • Xena comes back to her old self at the end and had a tearful reunion with her team.

     RWBY: Isle of Armor

  • Tai is disheartened over the disappearance of his daughter.
  • Yang beats herself up hard after Ruby goes missing, blaming herself for not being there for her.
    • To rub salt in the wound, Ruby lays into her HARD after Yang tries to comfort her.
  • Yang realizes the gravity of her actions after her fight with Bea, causing her to tear up as a result.
  • Ruby and Yang have a fight, and the end result is Ruby being a blubbering mess and begging her sister to help her.
  • Palutena goes into Yang hard, making her see that she's not as good as she says she is. Where during the talk, a flashback is seen where K. Rool claims that even if he and others are bad guys, bad guys also have feelings. With K. Rool only doing what he did because he hit his limit.
  • Summer visits Ruby and hugs her, making Ruby believe she's actually there.

     The Healing of the Soul
  • Dark Xena tells her other self how she truly felt about everything and shared her side of the story.

     Super RWBY Galaxy
  • Rosalina explains to Ruby that her mother died of a terminal illness and says that she's still slumbering underneath a tree.
    • It also appears to still have an effect on Rosalina, considering she's trying not to cry over the memory.
  • Chapter 9 shows Rosalina's Storybook, AKA Rosalina's backstory. Child!Rosalina says this line that would make anyone cry.
Child!Rosalina: She's sleeping under the tree on that hill!
    • Later, we see Ibuki comforting Rosalina after everyone leaves and telling her to let it all out, prompting Rosalina to cry on Ibuki's shoulder.
  • Tai reveals what his life was like after Summer passed on in front of his dead wife. Summer even mentions she regrets even going on the mission that ended her life.
  • Penny cradling R3-B7 after she was forced by Eggman to destroy her.
  • When the Supermassive Black Hole starts to suck and spaghettify everyone, we see people embracing one another during their final moments.

     Super Paper RWBY
  • During Mr. L's insult spree, he saves Ruby for last and calls her "Miss Has No Mommy", her reaction is pretty saddening.
  • When Luigi looks like he's about to come to, Dimentio comes back and takes Luigi and JNPR away after their battle. Neo looks downtrodden and Hoopa sheds a few tears.
  • Ruby is on the verge of giving up, saying it's all too much and it's been incredibly stressful. To make matters worse, Dimentio is taking advantage of this.
  • Count Bleck breaks down in tears mid-laughter while Nastasia tries to convince him to stop the void.
  • Ruby suffered through so much emotional pain during the 8th world. It is heartbreaking to see Ruby to the point of giving up. It got worse next chapter resulting in her becoming Chaos Ruby, leaving her with permanent damage much to the sadness of her friends and family.
    • Adding on to this, we see Ruby breaking down crying after trying to call for backup. To make matters worse, at the start of the 17th chapter, we see what happens to those who Ruby tried to call. Sothis and even Palutena feel helpless as they are at the mercy of the void.
  • While it is also heartwarming, it's also kind of sad to see that Blumiere and Timpani leave their friends forever just so they can stop Dimentio's destruction.

     RWBY: The Crown Tundra
  • Calyrex explaining his backstory to the group and everyone feeling sorry for him.
  • Weiss gets injured by both Seryu and Adam and Blake is reduced to tears and holding onto her friend dearly, showing how close Blake is with Weiss and hurt by the cruelty of the two enemies.
    • As a result, she feels guilty about this, and seen in the following chapter afterward, she remained an emotional wreck until Weiss wakes up at the end of the chapter and reassures her it is not her fault but Adam's.
  • Apollo's father, a Solgaleo, requests for Yang to take care of his child before he passes away from his injuries. Apollo breaks down crying seconds later.

     RWBY: Bowser's Inside Story
  • Marnie reunites with Neo and Roman. Word of God mentions that it was hard to write since he was starting to cry when they reunited. Who can blame him?
  • Summer had hopes that she could convince Raven to help her against Dark Ruby, but thanks to Raven's stubbornness in a heated argument, she quickly realizes that Raven's a lost cause. Because of this, she's brought to tears and cries into Qrow's chest.

     SPBRR: Fusion
  • While Samus is desperately trying to get Blake revived, she mentions that she failed to save her allies who had fallen, and in tears, declares that she's not going to let another person die on her hands. While it is indeed heartwarming that Samus is desperately trying to save Blake... it's also sad that she feels a bit of regret about not saving her fellow bounty hunters or Adam.
  • Seeing Blake go through very painful experiences and seeing her mentally and physically hurt during it is gut-punching. After a near-death experience with SA-X followed by a previous encounter with Nina in her Gamma form and Serris has caused Blake to snap and left her in a feral state. Ultimately a near-death encounter with SA-X and learning about there being 10 in total caused Blake to break and fall into utter despair. When the rest of the team finds her, she is reduced to a sobbing mess. Even Calyrex and her team trying to reach out to her doesn't help much.

     SPBRR Dread
  • Rosalina feeling helpless and powerless with her powers stolen thanks to Raven Beak is very gut-wrenching.
  • Quiet Robe getting murdered in front of Team SPBRR, complete with dying in Samus' arms. Everyone feels awful for her.

     JNPR: Project Freelancer
  • The second C.T. mistaking Nora for Connie, showing how much he misses her after her death, having never fully gotten over it. Despite his actions in the story, it's hard not to feel sorry for this man.
  • Team JINXY Showing concern for Jade as she is very pale from spending too much time inside the lab, agreeing Jade needs help or else she may get serious health problems.
  • The Reds and Blues discovered that they were only meant to be fodder for the Freelancers. Needless to say, nobody takes it well.

     SPBRR Promised Day
  • Mukuro is clearly struggling with the fact that Junko murdered her in cold blood. All of her slaughterings are implied to be her holding back a mental breakdown over the fact.
  • Sloth's origin is heartbreaking. Not only did the experiment render the soldier slower, not faster, but he was also made unfit for the military, even his own wife left him. This has left him with constant depression and the fact the Homunculi side even agreed that his life wasn't fair and asks the heroes to give him a Mercy Kill.
  • Samus getting crippled by Bradley/Wrath is heartbreaking to see after getting so many injuries throughout her life, Bradley succeeded where all others have failed, even more serious than what both Ridley and Dark Samus have done. It is not going to be easy for her to recover from.
    • Becomes slightly subverted when it is discovered that the Metroid DNA in Samus can restore the damage to her spine so long as she continues to drain someone.

     RWBY: A Ubiquitous End
  • Just in case you needed more of a reason to pity Seryu, the story opens with some bullies tearing her teddy bear in half just because she was a Faunus.
  • By the time Sheele does catch up with her old friend, Seryu has become a Death Seeker who believes she is Beyond Redemption and only called Sheele in an attempt to get her to Mercy Kill her.

     RWBY: Fell Star Strikers
  • Both Edelgard and Byleth clearly do not want to fight, but fate forced their hand.
  • How does Chapter 2 end? With Garreg Mach ablaze with the heroes none the wiser.
  • Byleth reveals to Edelgard that she's been suffering from hearing the voices of her students dying in her head despite saving them with Divine Pulse. It later gets worse later in the story when it’s revealed Thales has mentally tortured Byleth as well. This has caused her to have a breakdown before the Nemesis fight.

     Super RWBY 3D Land
  • Mercury clearly wants nothing to do with Dry Bowser, telling the heroes to just beat him up. He even begs for help as he's taken away by Dimentio.
  • Pit struggling with walking through the Grimm version of Skyworld, both because Ruby is missing and because it reminds him of the Chaos Kin.
  • Chiaki having a panic attack when she realizes Dimentio is challenging her to go through the same maze that killed her previously.
  • Summer having a Heroic BSoD moment thanks to Grimm Summer's hurtful words.
  • Mercury begging to be put out of his misery due to being transformed into a cyborg against his will.
  • Grimm Weiss’s tragic death at the hands of Grimm Ruby. She was able to make peace with Weiss before dying.

     RWBY and the Seven Sirens
  • Ruby is so afraid of hurting her teammates again that she didn't even invite them on vacation with her. Weiss and Yang both admit that while they understand it, it still hurts quite a bit.
    • Next chapter reveals that is also scared of going into Zinogre form as well out of fear of killing them while feral.
  • Upon learning that the wedding for Byleth and Dorothea will happen while she is on vacation, Ruby is devastated that she will miss her own sister's wedding and the chance to be maid of honor.
  • Lobster Siren running away due to her own sisters refusing to acknowledge her role and not sharing the power. While Oran and Kala do help cheer her up and offer support, she still ran due to not wanting to fight her own sisters.
  • Ruby reveals she has been getting nightmares of her losing control of her Zinogre form and killing everyone she loves. This terrifies her greatly and is why she's been distant from everyone.
  • Tubeworm Siren keeping distance from her sisters due to an incident where Scylla hurt both her eldest and youngest sister.
  • While the scene is Played for Laughs, Zapple feeling betrayed over Armor Baron tricking Shantae and Sky into wearing his entrapping armor is more than a little sad, especially since the Baron actually raised her.
  • Next chapter reveals that her trust issues stemmed from a boy cheating on her with another woman, before dumping her and getting wed to the other woman. She ended up destroying the wedding in a rage and realizes that she killed her ex in the process. This also left her with a fear of falling in love again.
  • Angler Fish Siren reveals how she got discriminated against by humans, to the point where she actually lost her eye from it.
  • The ending of chapter 12. The heroes succeed in stopping the Devil from taking Ruby's soul, only for him to make off with Oran and Kala's souls. Ruby's anguished scream at the end really sells it.
  • The Empress Siren's death, as she is freed from her corruption right as she dies and only has enough time to tell her sisters and the heroes she's sorry about everything.

     RWBY: The Hisuian Legend
  • Summer admits to Ozpin she is scared of leaving her family behind, especially Ruby, after the events of 3D Land, worrying that it will destroy them.
  • Seeing Byleth in distress after a nightmare is heartbreaking, especially because of what exactly she winds up seeing.
  • Yang and Bereto come across an orphaned Teddiursa, which ends up breaking down in the former's arms.
  • Ruby reveals that, while she does want her mom to return to the afterlife since she has earned it, she also doesn't want her to leave since she's been her support all this time.
  • Gloria's Freak Out when Melli sics the Alpha Crobat on the group.
  • Kleavor's capture is clearly weighing heavily on Irida, not helped by Melli claiming it to be a punishment from Almighty Sinnoh.
  • Upon learning that not only did Team Plasma beat them to Lord Avalugg's location, they've already brainwashed it, Irida fully breaks down and begins calling herself a failure of a leader.
  • After Kamado banishes Ruby and the others from the village, Cyllene chooses to resign and not only does she leave, but so do Laventon, Akari and Kira. Needless to say, Kamado instantly regrets his decision.
  • While the story ends on an overall heartwarming note, Morpho Knight appears before Summer, giving the readers a grim reminder that she won't be around forever. While she does manage to convince him to wait until after Tai and Rosalina's wedding, Summer's days left on Earth are still very much numbered.
    • Sure enough, Summer's final farewell is beyond tearjerking. No one wants to see her go, but they all know that she couldn't stay forever. Morpho Knight does allow her to say goodbye, but, if anything, that only makes it sadder as everyone gives their final goodbyes.

     JINXY and the Forgotten Land
  • Chapter 7 has Xena and Yagami breaking down upon realizing that Umber had been brainwashed by the Greater-Scope Villain of the story.
  • In Chapter 9, the Fecto-possessed Esdeath presses Magnolia's Trauma Button by calling her "Foxface", which causes the poor little girl to be reduced into a traumatized sobbing mess and then fly into a state of near-unstoppable blind rage, which was exploited by Fecto as he took advantage of this moment by possessing her and making her turn against her friends under his control.
  • In Chapter 12, Umber loses his girlfriends due to Fecto's actions, after trying so hard to prevent Fecto from finding out he was faking being under his control, Fecto revealed he knew all along and did this to punish him for not only lying but betraying him as well.
  • Tropic Woods' needing to be Mercy Killed due to being unable to survive in the lava-filled Redgar Forbidden Lands.
  • While it's been foreshadowed before, it's finally revealed why exactly Shadow is so fond of Logue - she reminds him of Maria. While this alone would be heartwarming, the fact the reveal is Shadow having a PTSD-fueled flashback to Maria's death makes it upsetting.

     ATMC: Skyward Sword
  • Chapter 4 and 5 reveals the tragic fate of Anya's biological parents.
  • Chapter 5 reveals Weiss has been carrying a deep sense of guilt, fear, and helplessness over the fates of Team RWBY through the series, mainly with how much Ruby has been suffering. It has gotten to the point she hoped something bad would happen to her to give Ruby a break for once.
  • Mine is revealed to be terrified of her Demon Soul and losing control of it.
  • Chapter 16 revels Chelsea is scared of her birth parents returning and killing her loved ones, causing the normal upbeat and cheerful Chelsea to break down in tears.
  • Chapter 19 sees Ghirahim reveal Maki's status as the Night Raid traitor to the group. At first, Maki tries as hard as she can to deny it, only for Ghirahim to threaten to slit Anya's throat if she doesn't confess. And when she does, her voice breaks as she breaks down crying.

     CFVY: Rise of the Mammalians
  • It's revealed in the first chapter that, unlike with Mikan and Chiaki or Mondo and Chihiro, Leon and Sayaka never made up for her attempting to kill him, which lead to both of their deaths. While Leon jumping behind Mondo's back is Played for Laughs, it's still sad to realize that he's clearly scared to face her again.
  • During their time alone, Octavio notes that Captain 3 used to be much chattier and more lively. While she doesn't outright say it, her time Brainwashed and Crazy under Commander Tartar has left her a Shell-Shocked Veteran.
  • The reason Ikura is so racist against Salmonids? Because a wave of them destroyed her best friend's home and killed her.
    • We then see it in full action where, despite Ikura trying to save her best friend, a Fly Fish separates the two with its missiles and then a Maws comes in and eats Nema right in front of her.
  • Agent 8 having a full blown panic attack over seeing a test that looks too similar to one they went through during their time in the Deep Sea Metro.
  • Ikura freezing up upon seeing Shiver having Master Mega use an attack that looks very similar to how a Maws does.
  • When Ikura realizes that she's been basically helping Mr. Grizz set up his Final Solution plan, she's utterly destroyed, realizing that her desire to avenge her friend ended up nearly dooming her species.

     RWBY: Winter's Dusk
  • In spite of the best heroes' best efforts, Atlas and Mantle are both destroyed, leaving who knows how many people homeless and driving Weiss to tears.
  • Futaba and Fria's final conversation before the latter passes the power of the Winter Maiden to the former.
  • In spite of Penny's best efforts, SAPR reverts back to R3-B7 and heads off to kill Eggman.
  • When the group heads for Radiant Garden in order to find one of the Chaos Emeralds, they find all the refugees and one of them proceeds to blame the Schnees for everything that happened, even accusing them of knowing Atlas would fall.
  • Eggman nuking Argus, causing Erza to fall into despair.
  • During their fight, Sienna is forced to see just how much of a monster she turned Adam into upon discovering that his goal for the attack on Toad Town was to kill Peach under the belief that she "forced" peace between Faunus and humans and refusing to accept any kind of peace that isn't Faunus ruling over humans.
  • The scene where Byleth reveals Eggman had her under his thumb under the threat of incinerating her new family is both this and Nightmare Fuel depending on how you look at it. Thankfully, while she does reveal what happened, Sephiroth frees Esdeath who then destroys the power core for the incinerator, robbing Eggman of one of his advantages.
  • Once the heroes set her free, Pyrrha reveals that she's been stuck under Eggman's control for two weeks and can only break down in Jaune's arms as she sobs out apologies. Chapter 15 reveals that she was aware of it the whole time and was the one to give the order to nuke Argus, meaning that she was forced to bomb her hometown.

     RWBY: Wings Of Ruin
  • Weiss is completely beside herself over Adam's kidnapping of Azure, spiraling as she thinks about all the horrible things that could be happening to what is basically her son by the hands of a mad man who has shown himself to be willing to go to whatever it takes to spite her and her friends.
  • Chapter 4 gives us a look at Pyrrha's mental state and the poor girl has completely crossed the Despair Event Horizon, with everything she did still weighing heavily on her and her now seeing metal constantly shifting and moving doesn't help. Her comment at the end of her segment about "wanting out of this hellhole" implies that worse may be coming... Chapter 5 has Pyrrha getting a bottle of alcohol from a store in Toad Town and walking out of the place into the horizon. Then, in Chapter 6, at Pyrrha's house, Ezra phases through Pyrrha's locked bedroom door and sees the room empty, window open, the doorknob to her closet melted off and her armor and weapons still there and some kind of note on a scroll. Chapter 7 has Ezra and Athena visiting the rest of JNR and discovering Pyrrha went by herself to Yoshi Falls much to Nora and Ezra's horror. Thank goodness for King Dedede, plus the reveal that Pyrrha wasn't even considering suicide in the first place.
  • Twilight Chiaki's version of Fi is revealed to be completely miserable stuck serving under her now insane mistress and openly encourages the group spying on her to try to pick up the Master Sword in hopes of getting a new master.
  • When the heroes manage to defeat Adam's Glavenus, it begins outright crying simply because the heroes were being nice to it and treating it well, making one wonder just what Adam did to it.

    WSSP: Frontiers
  • Weiss is revealed still be suffering from PTSD over not just the events of Wings of Ruin and Skyward Sword, but also her failure to save Meryl from death back when she was Dark Weiss.
  • The data system bringing in versions of Jade's parents, King Boo and Myra, reminding the poor girl of how he killed her parents and Myra effectively was the one responsible for it. While R3-B7 saves Jade, Jade has to summon Iris and Futaba to give her a hug after what she went through.
  • This exchange between Sage and Eggman:
Dr. Eggman: Commendable, but what about finding me a way out of this digital dimension?
Sage: I have run one million, seven hundred thousand and fifty simulations. There is no scenario to safely remove you all from Cyberspace.
Dr. Eggman: Unacceptable! Keep looking! Make it your number one priority!
    Eggman takes off
Sage: But… keeping you all safe is my priority…
  • As it turns out, not even Eggman knew about the nuke in Winter's Dusk, he just wanted to preserve Argus in Chromium.

     Super RWBY Chibi
  • Chapter 124 of Super RWBY Chibi ends with a tribute to Alex Trebek.
  • Chapter 193 ends with it being revealed that Super RWBY Chibi is ending with its 200th chapter in a Shout-Out to Brawl in the Family with Ruby and Weiss's reactions being the exact same as Kirby and Adeline's reactions from World 8-4 which is also what the final section is also called.
  • Chibi itself coming to an end with its final chapter being the gang in the Olympics, Scoop Swoop taking a picture of everyone, Sea5ons performing one last song in tribute, Ruby telling everyone thank you, Sarge announcing Super RWBY PSA, and Ruby saying farewell from everyone, good guys, bad guys and those who haven't shown up yet.

     Super RWBY IF
  • In Chapter 5, Yang's reaction to Ruby's transformation into Sapphire Onyx, especially once she realizes that she was a major reason for the said transformation.
  • Chapter 7:
    • Seeing Ruby and Chiaki, two of the most upbeat and positive characters in the series, crossing the Despair Event Horizon thanks to Junko's torment.
    • Bowser being forced to Mercy Kill Mario once it becomes clear he's too far gone to be saved.
  • Chapter 17:
    • After getting visions of Dark Yang and Blake dying, Dark Ruby does everything in her power to save them, only for both to still meet their canonical fates anyways. It gets even worse once Dark Weiss starts blaming her for it, even when Dark Ruby tries to explain the truth. And even worse is the dialogue during the Sunshine adaptation when Dark Ruby tries to tell Dark Blake not to go into Mount Corona due to getting a vision of Dark Blake's death:
Dark Blake: Okay, shut up. Just… shut up. You have been acting extremely paranoid ever since you fought Ruby for the first time and it's been just "Vision this" and "Vision that"... and I'm sick of it.
    * shoves the spray can into Dark Ruby's hands.*
Dark Blake: I'm leaving this team. If I stay with you a second longer and hear another damnable "vision", I'm going to scream. Tell Dark Weiss and Meta I said goodbye.
    * Walks off, flipping Dark Ruby off along the way.*
Dark Ruby: W-wait! You can't just leave us just like that!
Dark Blake: Watch me. (vanishes as Dark Ruby yells in frustration)
    • This whole chapter could be considered a massive tear jerker, as it shows that, under different circumstances, Dark Ruby could have gone down the path of Dark Pit and become a good guy, only to instead slip deeper into her own bloodlust, insanity and rage at her light counterpart.
  • Chapter 19 starts with Xena being launched into a massive snowbank in the Arctic tundra due to a Bob-omb telling King Bob-omb that if the latter shoots Xena into Toad Town, she may survive and keep coming after King Bob-omb. After Xena wakes up and hauls herself out, she wanders around, slowly becoming more and more disoriented until she outright faints. Luckily, Esdeath found her but due to how long Xena was in the cold, she got severe frostbite and Esdeath had to use her semblance to replace Xena's hands, feet and part of her ears with ice.
  • Chapter 21 has several.
    • Without Summer around, Ruby struggles further with recovering from her trauma, especially once Byleth is killed.
    • Ruby refusing to speak with Byleth due to the latter's poor advice, and then losing her chance to make up with her when Nemesis kills her.
    • Dark Pit kills Oran and, when he learns that he just killed an innocent child, is extremely remorseful.
  • Chapter 29 has Bereto being killed by Nemesis in a Taking You with Me. Luckily, Edelgard proceeds to kill Nemesis and the chapter ends with Bereto being reunited with his parents in the afterlife.
