Extra showcases just how badly being abandoned affected Chocola and Vanilla, even after joining the Minaduki family. To the point where they're scared of just being left alone in a room, as they wonder how long before they are abandoned again.

After being defeated by his father making a whipped cream that matches his mentor's flavor, Kashou struggles to find what he is lacking in terms of a "core." It's gotten to the point where he is starting to second-guess himself and eventually tells Maple and Cinnamon the Awful Truth in regards to how his catpanions' encouragement is actually doing much more harm than help that he fears that he may end up pushing them away. This brings them to tears: Not for what he had said, but what he's going through and them feeling helpless that they couldn't help him as he did them.
The farewell hug that Shigure and Beignet share when she and Kashou leave France is taken up a notch upon The Reveal that Beignet is their grandmother, and Shigure and Beignet knew it.
