Poor Lucas.
Although Need for Speed is a racing game franchise known for Awesome Music, Cool Cars, and over-the-top Moment of Awesome, there are times the games have its saddening moments.
Porsche Unleashed
  • Rolf announcing his retirement from the team. Age may be catching up to him, as he asks you for one last race. Win, and he'll pass the Chief Test Driver title to you. It Has Been an Honor indeed.
Hot Pursuit 2
  • While the soundtrack in the entire series is great, giving you the mood to beat the race ASAP, but some of the tracks specially in the older games are quite somber. The most notable example is Bush's "The People That We Love" from Hot Pursuit 2.
    We expect her gone
    For some time
I wish her safe from harm
    To find yourself
    In a foreign land
    Another refugee
    Outsider refugee
World
  • Many players were upset and depressed regarding the shutdown five years after its release. Fortunately, it's still playable but only through an offline modification. According to the YouTube comment section of After the end, the game itself is now a gigantic Ghost Town. Mick Gordon's "Static" deserves a special mention, as the community associates the track itself regarding the game's shutdown.
Heat
  • Has a couple of moments.
    • Joe's Heroic BSoD when he was forced to break ties with Ana and leaving for Ventura.
    • Lucas becoming infuriated to Ana for taking the Camaro without his permission. To make matters worse is Ana being in a heated argument with Lucas, causing her to estrange her relations.
    • The last part of "Party Crashers" has Lucas telling Ana about their father and his Camaro. Lucas' mention of his father's death after a phone call during his jail time would make you grab a box of tissue.
Lucas: Sorry I never told you.
Ana: So you've been carrying this the whole time?
Lucas: Look, if I had just stopped earlier, if I had just listened to him...
Ana: You can't go back. You're here with us right now. That's what matters.
    • Earlier on, Lucas is seen bound and tortured by Mercer. You can see how badly bruised he was, as a result for Ana abandoning him.
