    Episode 1: Generation Why
  • The scene of Kamala walking through school before she meets with Bruno and Nakia is pretty depressing. She gets misnamed by a coach and mocked by her peers, all while she has a pretty dejected expression on her face. It perfectly illustrates that despite her Adorkable persona, Kamala still has a lot of trouble trying to fit in.
  • When Kamala asks Muneeba and Yusuf about attending AvengerCon, Muneeba immediately disregards the idea and even blatantly says that she doesn't trust her daughter. While the moment is played for laughs, it leads to Kamala highlighting the Double Standard between how she and Aamir are treated and storming up to her room.
    • The next morning, her parents decide to surprise her by allowing her to go, but under the condition that Yusuf attends and he wears a matching costume of the Hulk with Kamala. She is immediately against the idea.
      • Kamala's unwillingness to go with her father hurts him deeply, and she very quickly realizes it.
Kamala: "I think I made my dad cry."
      • Made even worse by the fact that, between the two, her father was more likely to compromise with her or throw her a bone.
      • And even worse because Yusuf was genuinely excited about going to the convention with Kamala.
      • The look on Muneeba's face, and right afterwards telling Kamala she had spent so much time making those costumes for them. This is not only the most compassionate thing Muneeba does in the entire episode, but also the one time she actually tries to meet Kamala halfway instead of refusing to budge... and Kamala just throws it back in her face with no consideration for the effort she went to. No wonder she's so upset.
      • It is all capped off by the fact that this whole fiasco could have been avoided with proper communication. Muneeba obviously realized how important this event was for her daughter and put a lot of thought and work into meeting her halfway. She just did it in such a wrong way that Kamala is even more upset. Think about it; her mom turned an event where she cosplayed as her superhero idol into an event where she wore matching costumes with her father, and her costume is for a character ("mini-hulk") that didn't even exist. If the two sat down and discussed the costume (maybe a modest Pakistani-themed Captain Marvel), then this could have been avoided.
  • While strolling through AvengerCon, Kamala and Bruno stop to pay respects to a display honoring the sacrifices of Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff and Iron Man/Tony Stark.
  • AvengerCon starts out with Kamala and Bruno having a great time. And then, Zoe shows up in her own Captain Marvel costume, which forces Kamala to hurry to put her own on, leading to her forgetting the Proton gloves that Bruno made for her. When out on the stage, Kamala suffers an anxiety attack and probably would've been humiliated just as she said if not for her powers activating.
  • When Kamala sneaks back home, she runs into Muneeba waiting up for her to get home. The two have a painful encounter where Kamala acknowledges that her mother would be averse to the idea of going to AvengerCon, to which Muneeba expresses just how hurt she is that her daughter realized that she wouldn't like what she was setting out to do and yet did it anyway.
  • There are hints throughout the episode that Muneeba had a strained relationship with her own mother, and her strained relationship with Kamala is because of how much she resembles her Nani.

    Episode 2: Crushed
  • Kamala's crush on Kamran is hard on Bruno who is obviously thrown by it and feels supplanted in Kamala's life.
    • This might affect his decision on whether or not to go to CalTech.
  • After Nakia tries to gain his support to her campaign, telling him that Kamala supports her, Yusuf Khan is visibly torn apart that his options are a) support his friend, disappointing his daughter, or b) support Nakia, upsetting his friend. It's pretty much an unwinnable situation for him, and he's painfully aware of that.
  • Kamala's in tears when her first attempt at heroism goes astray and she accidentally drops the boy she was rescuing, barely managing to spare him a fatal landing by conjuring multiple platforms beneath him, all of which fail to actually catch him before he lands on top of a car, injuring his ankle. To add insult to injury, she's then accosted by Damage Control drones and agents.

    Episode 3: Destined
  • Kamala still feels insecure about herself after her last attempt of heroism injured a boy in the previous episode. It's starting to dawn on her that being a superhero is more than what she thought and just how complicated her new double life has become.
  • Kamala finally connects with her mother, asking for advice in the saddest most scared little voice.
  • Nakia clearly feels betrayed that Kamala had told Bruno and not her that she was "Night Light", demanding to know why Kamala didn't tell her despite having previously expressed hostility and anger towards the rookie superhero for bringing the Department of Damage Control down on the community's head — and Kamala had been about to reveal the truth earlier in the episode only for Nakia to cut her off.
  • Not only is Muneeba's mother Sana not coming to her own grandson's wedding, but she says that in the past Sana didn't even go to her wedding.
  • Aamir's wedding is ultimately cut short by the arrival of the Djinn. Kamala saves their lives by pulling the fire alarm, but her family (both immediate and extended) has no idea why she did it, and when her parents earnestly ask their daughter to explain what's going on so they can help her, Kamala simply says she can't.

    Episode 4: Seeing Red
  • Nakia giving Kamala the silent treatment after she finds out about her being "Night Light" all along, and Kamala's attempt to reach out to her through texts meeting no response from Nakia.
  • Kamran is left heartbroken when Najma abandons him at Damage Control's HQ for his role in helping Kamala. Even the rest of Clan Destine are taken aback by her callousness.
  • The ending where Kamala is transported back to the train station during The Partition of India. The station is overcrowded and her family doesn't know if they'll get on the last train. Bags and passengers are sitting on top of the cars. Friends and family are saying goodbye. A father even urges his son to leave him because he's too old to travel and gives him the last of his money.

    Episode 5: Time and Again
  • Aisha's murder at the hands of Najma in the flashback. All she wanted was to keep her beloved husband and child safe, only for Najma to brutally stab her at the train station. She never even got to say goodbye to them, instead leaving some parting words to Kamala and a photograph so Sana could remember her. We then see Kamala struggling through the crowd as a crying Sana calls out for her Ammi, having wandered away from Hasan, whose injured leg prevented him from catching up with her.
    • Sana is close to tears when she sees the photograph of her parents. In the previous episode, she said to Kamala that she has to draw her parents because she never had a picture of them, meaning that the photograph is basically the first time she sees her mother's face in seven decades.
  • The overall episode offers an unflinching look at how the Partition of India affected many people. Houses were burned down, families forced to flee. Shortly before they left, nobody would buy flowers from Hasan anymore nor sell Aisha milk, because he was Muslim.
  • Bruno offhandedly mentioning that his parents aren't around. He only mentions if offhandedly, but this teenage kid lives alone with no family. No wonder Kamala's family has basically adopted him.
  • Najma's Heel Realization at how selfish she's been and the resulting Heroic Sacrifice she makes to save the world and seal the portal to Noor. Kamala's Big "NO!" as it happens makes it worse, especially since it's clear she can't stop it. Even worse, she didn't even get to say goodbye or apologize to Kamran.

    Episode 6: No Normal
  • Kamala having to tell Kamran that his mother died after closing the Veil.
    • Kamran's breakdown over everything, questioning how he's supposed to be normal. Kamala tells him that there is no normal, and that they have to make do with what they have.
  • You gotta feel a little sad for Bruno, when he witnesses Kamran and Kamala holding hands.
