Tear Jerker / Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis

• Tony destroying the Huffin tree just to be petty. Not only do trees take ages to grow, but it was inhabited by a Wood Mana meaning he'd destroyed its home just to try and get one up on Flay's team. Even Renee believes he went too far, and Roxis, who is with Tony's group at this point, finds it vile and unnecessary.
• Vayne's father just wanted to help people with his Alchemy skills. So when he ended up shortening Jess' lifespan, he can't handle the stress and ends up creating Vayne to kill himself.
• Jess' circumstances have also skewed her sense of what death means to others. She accepts that she'll die soon, but when one of her classmates loses their father she comes off as being callous and she legitimately doesn't know why it upsets people. And when it's explained to her that people are sad when others they love die, she drops this line:
  Jess: What? That's no good... I'm going to die before everyone else, though.
  • Worse, we learn that her parents basically abandoned her emotionally to cut themselves off from feeling the pain of her eventual death.
• The Bad Ending has Vayne stay behind in the collapsing final dungeon, using up the last of his power in a wish to disappear. As everyone else escapes and realizes too late that Vayne decided to stay and die, Sulpher the cat goes to be with Vayne in his last moments. Even though he can't understand him anymore, Vayne thanks him for being there.
