Poor Commie.

"Do not weep for the past just because you knew it for a time. Man grows attached to a great deal; not out of love, but familiarity."
—"Office Life ♪" description

Behind the offbeat surrealism and audacious satire of Jreg lie themes of mental health, culture clashes, and existential crises.

  • Jreg's videos about jres (maybe) real life fall into this. They're lengthy rants where jre's clearly actually upset and is attempting to cover up jres true feelings and insecurities with a thick layer of irony, to the point jre admits jre doesn't actually know if anything jre's saying means anything.
  • "What Everything Sounds Like When You're Depressed": A man named John keeps imagining that his boss, his friend, and his girlfriend are insulting him, and telling him to jump of a bridge. Except his girlfriend calls him "Greg" and starts morphing into Greg the YouTuber, Breaking the Fourth Wall and insulting Greg for hiding behind character and irony, and delivers a vicious "The Reason You Suck" Speech.
  • "Okayish": An Ed Sheeran "Perfect" parody as Dismotivation for romance.
  • "postpostmodernism": Modernism, God, Community, and Truth are laughing together and having a good time. Then Postmodernism appears with a gun and brutally murders the latter three, declaring them all obsolete. When Modernism laments that Postmodernism has only destroyed his purpose and happiness with nothing to show for it, the latter admits he's right and shoots himself. Laughing Mad, Modernism adopts the identity of Postpostmodernism.
    Postpostmodernism: W- ww- What now?
  • Ancom's Heroic Sacrifice and transformation via Death of Personality into Post-Left at the end of Centricide 3, which clearly leaves Tankie devastated.
  • Ancap getting called out harshly as a bad person by Nazi and Commie during Centricide 4. It's rather disheartening seeing his general attitude wholly dissipate into despair, especially considering he's one of the nicer extremists. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you perceive Ancap) he gets a He's Back! moment when saving Libertarian from Anti-Radical and seems to get over this by the time he sets up Ancapistan.
  • Tankie later spends the opening of Centricide 4 mourning the loss of his close friend, including a song that concludes with a Heartwarming Moment, eventually crying before getting back to the mission.
  • Nazi very nearly dies in Centricide 6, spending what he thought would be his last minutes accompanied by his closest friend. He's revived by Conservative, who he believed he had killed, who saves him because of Christian ethics of universal forgiveness.
    • It's even worse for Tankie, who had witnessed his closest friend's personality be completely erased only a short time prior and was under the impression that he was losing the only other member of the extremists he liked or tolerated. He even remarks on how he's "already lost so much". The fact that we see him drinking heavily by himself in "Centricide 8.0" (complete with him looking at a Precious Photo of the extremists) while the rest of the Extremists are off with their own quadrant means that he wasn't good at making friends in the first place, so seeing his two only friends being (almost) killed and suffer a Death of Personality must have did a number on him.
  • Milder example but Nazbol getting rejected by Nazi and Commie despite saving them from Horseshoe Centrist is a downer. Despite pulling a Big Damn Heroes moment, Nazbol still fundamentally too wacky for the regular Extremists, even as he is rejected by the Centrists and Wackys alike.
  • Transhumanist, the most likeable and sane of the wackies, heartlessly betrays his comrades in a bid for power, and becomes the monstrous Posthumanist, and mortally wounds Anarcho-primitivism, who dies cradled in the arms of Anarcho-Monarchism.
Anarcho-Primitivism: An-Prim's life was short, yet meaningful. Moon God, I am coming."
  • "Office Life ♪", a sad, sad lament of the Soul-Crushing Desk Job. Also this quote from the description:
"Do not weep for the past just because you knew it for a time. Man grows attached to a great deal; not out of love, but familiarity."
  • "I Watch My YouTube Videos At 2x Speed ♪" is a musical lament that highlights how empty, shallow, and numbing social media now feels.
Can't sit alone, can't hear what I think,
I'm an addict, but I don't smoke or drink,
I play it in the background to avoid my thoughts,
If I listened to those, then I'd soon be lost...
  • The "Centricide 7.0" rabbit hole has tons of videos for the viewer to explore through YouTube's info cards and end screens. Some are particularly more personal, sad, and raw.
    • "Jreg and Greg || Centricide 7.1". When Jreg is talking about how he knows the difference between when he's playing a character and when he's not, the red dot in the corner appears.
