- How a criminal's son had to watch his father being gunned down in episode #5 and swore revenge (at least to some extent because Fonne was gloating at him about how awesome it was to kill his dad and how awesome it will be to kill him) against all bounty hunters. That affected Natsuki enough to make her quit her job (for a few days).
- A happier example of this later on in the manga, Natsuki reuniting with her mother. Bast may be reincarnated as a small black cat now (though thankfully she can still talk), but Natsuki is happy to see her either way.
