Magneto finally opens up about Anya, his daughter who died, to the Scarlet Witch:
Magneto: Wanda...did I ever tell you of my Anya?
Wanda: I...I can't...
Magneto: No. Probably not. The iron door, never opened. She had eyes like yours and hair like autumn leaves. My beautiful child. The humans killed her, of course. I didn't even know I was a mutant then. We were humans at the mercy of humans. Prey for their systems, their societies...and now...now I find myself the great mutant hero. I run our systems, govern our society. I helped build a world today...and I was happy...for the children...but then...then I thought of my children. And how I'd failed them. All of them.
Wanda: Magnus, I'm not—you know I'm not really your—
Magneto: I know. But sometimes what is real is not the same as what is true. And sometimes it takes two to pretend.
Just before that, we find out for the first time that Wanda is aware that she's being demonized on Krakoa.
Wanda: I'm sorry. I tried, but... I just couldn't face them. Not after everything I did. Everything I said. The Pretender can't sit at the feast.

As everyone heads for the after party on Mars, Prodigy, Eye Boy and the visiting Speed spot a figure lying on the ground. Speed goes to investigate and is horrified by what he sees: it’s the body of the Scarlet Witch. Dead. “Pretender” or not, that’s Speed’s mom and he can only sputter out “Mom? Mommy?” in horror and Prodigy and Eye Boy try to pull him away. Even the X-Men are shocked at this, especially Jean.

The revelation that the mutants have colonized Mars proves to be a rather melancholy moment for Steve Rogers. While he is happy that the mutants have taken this massive step in space exploration, this moment also makes him realize just how fractured relations between Humans and Mutants actually are because "they left us behind."

The whole concept of this issue, as Orchis forces Xavier to send almost every mutant on Earth through the portals to an unspecified destination (and the evidence suggests to Xavier that millions of those mutants are now dead), leaving only a few scattered mutants on Earth, with Xavier in particular alone on Krakoa having witnessed the apparent end of his dream as mutants are framed for several human deaths and various X-Men have been killed.
