By the end of chapter 49, Taira has gone crazy over being left behind and not being told anything, and he leaves to hunt down Ryota and Himiko, thinking that they're planning to kill him. Of course, this isn't the case at all, and Ryota tries to clear the misunderstanding, as he had wanted to tell Taira that he was the first adult Ryota could ever get along with. Still in madness, Taira is cornered by Komodo dragons and kills himself before Ryota and Himiko can reach him.
His Sanity Slippage is both this and Nightmare Fuel as a terrified man who tried to be decent ultimately let his paranoia get the better of him.
