Here we go again

From unsettling scarlet mists to restless spirits, incidents are happening at an alarming rate all over Gensokyo. You have had quite enough of this and want to get to the bottom of things. However, between all of the youkai and humans involved, you have no idea who's responsible for these incidents and who's trying to resolve them. As usual, there’s only one solution – take to the skies and sort it all out with danmaku battles!
From the instruction manual

Danmaku!! is a fangame to the popular Touhou Project series of shooting games, developed by USA-based doujin group Mystery Parfait. Four to eight players take identities as Touhou characters as well as hidden-roles that define their win condition.

This Board Game provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Attack Reflector: Reisen's spellcard and the lunatic card Reflect Shot.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Uchide’s Mallet doubles damage for most attacks, but restricts your range to 1 and only allows 1 Danmaku(Attack) card per round.
  • BFS: Flandre's spellcard is her swinging around a giant sword.
  • Blood Knight: Yuuka draws cards when she damages other players.
  • Cast from Hit Points: The incident Overdrive allows players to do this. Additionally, Utsuho's spell card causes her to lose 1 life.
  • Combination Attack: Ran's ability adds her own Spell Card to the effects of her Extra Character's spell card.
  • Defend Command: Dodge cards allow players to defend themselves from attacks.
  • Discard and Draw: The Kourindou card.
  • Expansion Pack: Danmaku!! Lunatic Extra and Mutiny of Betlittled Spirits.
  • Extra Turn: Kaguya's spellcard gives her an extra turn.
  • From Bad to Worse: Normally only one incident is active at a time. The Lunatic Extra expansion adds Urban Legend Outbreak, an incident that creates two more incidents, and adds one more every turn.
  • Homing Projectile: Reimu's passive forces opponents to discard an extra card to avoid her attacks.
  • Hot-Blooded: All characters draw one card when they lose a life; Tenshi draws two.
  • Kamehame Hadoken: Marisa, Mokou, Raiko, and Shou all have spellcards that get bigger under various conditions.
  • Little "No": The Interrupt card.
  • Magikarp Power: Raiko's "Pristine Beat" deals more damage every time it's activated in a row. Clever players can get it to 7-8 damage. The game's max life is 5...
  • No-Sell: There are a few ways to do this to attacks through the various expansions: Lunatic Extra introduces the lunatic card Ghostly Lantern, as well as Mokou, whose ability gives her a chance to do this upon taking a hit, and Mutiny of Belittled Spirits has the Jizou Statue and Aunn's Spell Card, which both let them do this (With Aunn also redirecting any given attack to her and hitting the attacker).
  • Not the Intended Use: Rather than play the artifact Mini-Hakkero, most players will trade it for a lunatic card.
  • Power Copying: The card Capture Spell Card lets you use another character's spellcard.
    • Satori has no spellcard of her own but copies others'.
    • Her sister Koishi copies other player's passives.
  • Power-Up: Power-Up is a card type in Danmaku!!, it includes cards such as Power and Supernatural Border.
  • Stealth Pun: Aya's passive. She Shoots the Bullet.
  • Running Gag: The party series of cards, Party, Endless Party, and Surprise Party all depict the same party getting increasingly out of control.
  • Shapeshifting: The characters Mamizou and Nue do this. There's also the Tanuki Leaf artifact, which allows anybody to do this.
  • Shout-Out: Some of the cards' artwork displays this:
    • Interrupt, from Lunatic Extra, is based on Rohan Kishibe's "I refuse" from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
    • Turnabout, from Mutiny of Belittled Spirits, as the name may suggest, is based on, in both name and artwork, the Ace Attorney series (Specifically, Cirno mimics Phoenix's Wright's famous pointing pose, with Okina taking on one of Miles Edgeworth's poses. The only thing missing is a speech bubble containing "Objection!").
  • Suicide Attack: Alice's items are her dolls, and she can sacrifice them to activate her spellcard, "Artful Sacrifice". This is also an example of We Have Reserves as her spellcard allows her to get a new item.
  • Time Stands Still: Sakuya's spellcard, appropriately named The World.
  • You Shall Not Evade Me: Multiple methods of attack cannot be avoided. Notably, Laser Shot and Remilia's Spell Card from the base game, Lunatic Extra has Yuyuko and Kogasa, the former does so using her ability when attacking somebody at 1 life, the latter through her spell card, and Mutiny of Belittled Spirits has Kisume and Luna Child. The former does it as a Midboss, her attacks cannot be avoided, and the latter's Assist Action grants this to the next Danmaku card the user players. As an extra bonus, Remilia's Spell Card cannot be cancelled either.
