Tabletop Game / The House of R'lyeh

Go To

The House of R’lyeh is a collection of five Call of Cthulhu adventure modules published during 2013 by Chaosium. What is unusual is that this adventure collection attempts to tie together various published works into something like a metaplot for Call of Cthulhu. This collection ties other game modules to actual stories by H. P. Lovecraft. Reviewers such as Alex Lucard note that its adventures are for more experienced players; its campaigns are exceptionally long with in-depth.

The first adventure is “The Art of Madness” which is based on Lovecraft's story Pickman's Model. It features a major character from The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, Richard Pickman, but seemingly a different character arc for him. The second module "The Crystal of Chaos" is a sequel to Lovecraft's story, "The Haunter of the Dark" and has ties to another campaign "Tales of the Sleepless City". The third module is set in Providence, Rhode Island, prime Lovecraft Country. The third module “The Return of the Hound” is a sequel to Lovecraft's story, "The Hound". The fourth module, "The Jermyn Horror" plays off of Lovecraft story, "Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and His Family", also known as "The White Ape". The fifth module, "Nameless City, Nameless Terrors" is related to Lovecraft story, "The Nameless City" and is set within a Temple of Doom style desert, with reptiles, on the Arabian peninsula near Yemen.
