There are a large number of rips that go beyond simple melody or soundfont changes just for the heck of it. Sometimes the rip references or homages something else, subtly or otherwise.
- A very special instance: the True Ending of the reboot is entitled "Melody of the Heart", which is not only a translated lyric from Snow Halation, but is also the title of the Love Live! anime episode that features Snow Halation.
- Chad Warden's lines during his Heroic Sacrifice reflect Kittan's from Gurren Lagann.
Chad: So... This is the power of the MF Like Button... Not bad... Not bad at all... PS Vita... I'm coming to see you. - The Think Music rip from the Family Feud SNES game is a huge one to TASVideos, specifically this video.
- The Alpha Mix of the Super Mario Bros. 3 Underground theme plays the Peter Gunn theme and eventually transitions to "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" from The Lion King (1994). This is an obscure reference to a sequence in The Lion King 1 ½ where the music keeps switching between these two tracks during Timon and Pumbaa's attempts to stop Simba from falling in love with Nala.
- Slot Machine (Beta Mix) is done in the style of SrPelo's X is... videos.
- Likewise, Cossack Sandvich uses his Team Fortress 2 doodles and style.
- Beware the Forest's Mushrooms (Adventure Mix) from Super Mario RPG is a reference to the song "Crystal Kingdom" from the McElroy Brothers' The Adventure Zone podcast that has a similar melody (as Griffin points out in the podcast clip played at the end of the rip).
- Menu - Garfield and all other Garfield rips are an homage to the Garfielf videos.
- The "fool me once" bit in Main Theme - Garfield's Scary Scavenger Hunt is a JonTron reference.
- The joke behind Title Theme - Sunman is easy: it's "Superman" by Goldfinger. The reference is harder: Sunman was originally planned to be a Superman game but the license fell through (and so did the game in the end).
- Intro (OST Version) - Mega Man 2 is actually a cover of The Adventures of Duane & BrandO's Mega Man 2 rap, mm2wood style.
- That's Enough from Jet Set Radio is mashed up with the Crazy Bus song from Arthur, and eventually the more well-known Crazy Bus music.
- Gerudo Valley - Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is done in the style of the "How To Play [insert Smash character here] 101" videos, only the character in question is Smol Nozomi.
- Main Theme - Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch is a parody of Know Your Moves pretending that Robbie Rotten is the final DLC character in the game.
- ラスト (Lust) - Miku Flick is (possibly) a spoof of Pooh's Adventures of all freaking things, and to add to the insanity the composer is listed as "PICKLE RICK!!!".
- Dream Land (Beta Mix) - Super Smash Bros. is a Nutshack parody of the "This Video Contains X" videos from the heyday of YouTube Poop, in which some YTP fad was pitch shifted to the tune of Dream Land 64's music.
- In keeping with the Sonic Mania + Totino's Running Gag, Competition Menu - Sonic Mania is a parody of the "Name 10 Things That Aren't X meme, which (like the Totino's song) was sparked by Tim & Eric.
- This rip alludes to how Ravel's "Bolero" was intended to be the title screen music for The Legend of Zelda, but the creators found out that its copyright hadn't expired at the time.
- Investigation ~ Opening 2004 from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney − Trials and Tribulations is a Phoenix Wright parody of the infamous "Steamed Hams" scene from The Simpsons episode "22 Short Films About Springfield".
- "Meeting with a Terrible Ape" is a reference to the "KING KONG.wmv" video of Ben Drowned, mixing the reversed Song of Healing with Jibb's "King Kong" used in the latter video.
- White (Owner's Recommendation) (Short Version) from Mother 3 is "The Candy Man" in the style of how it was used in Madagascar.
- The album release for Flyin' To Your Heart - Gitaroo Man lists the title as "UKSRT8 Phantasm but It's a High Quality Rip", referencing its use in the bonus stage of UK Sight Reading Tournament 8.
- If a rip is from a Bananas in Pyjamas game, chances are that it's going to be a Greeny Phatom parody.
- Agent Yoru o Yuku - THE iDOLM@STER (apart from all the channel memes referenced, of course) contains a handful of references to the previous times Kirbopher sang over Nico Nico Douga medleys — the first few lines are lifted from the original "Kirbomix" while the "ass-fucking" line from the end references the time he and a bunch of other Newgrounds people sung over Nico Nico Douga Urakumikyoku. Quite a few singers return from the latter project as well.
- S3 Invincible - Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles is an hour-long loop of the intro to Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles" in the style of the advertised track. This is a reference to the last part of Find the Computer Room's playthrough of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), which was just over an hour of all the loading screens with the intro to "A Thousand Miles" playing throughout. At one point in the video, someone suggests mashing up said intro with the Invincibility music from Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
- 6 PM - Animal Crossing is a Cover Version of "Simoon" by Japanese Synth-Pop group Yellow Magic Orchestra. The rip highlights the uncanny similarity between the main synth riff in the base game's source song and the melody of "Simoon", likely an intentional nod to YMO given their influence on Japanese video game music composers over the years.
- Title Theme - Ura Zelda is based on this video of purportedly leaked footage from the unreleased game, which in turn was inspired by YouTube Poop music videos.
- Elliot's Theme - Garry's Mod is a Garry's Mod machinima done In the Style of and in tribute to the late kitty0706, taking its heaviest inspiration from his series "Elliot Goes to School".
- Main Theme (Remastered Version) - New Ghostbusters II is a take on Super Ghostbusters. The narrator of the song even asked "Vinesauce Joel" to not sue him the same manner Joel asked Ray Parker, Jr. to.
- Bomberman's lose icon in the Friday Night Funkin' rip Fresh (Alternate Version) is based off of Whitty's lose icon, specifically during his third song, "Ballistic".
- The Undertale rip "Your Best Friend (True Pacifist Version)" swaps the melody with the theme song to Pibby. The video cuts to static partway through before a slower, distorted version of the song plays, referencing the Dark Reprise of the theme in the trailer.
- The cover for Studio TRIGGER QUALITY WORKS, a tribute album dedicated for the animation studio's tenth anniversary, is a SiIvaGunner-ified version of a fanart of Powerpuff Girls Z made by Yoh Yoshinari, creator of Little Witch Academia
- The album covers for SiIvaGunner's Highest Quality Rips: Volume C and Volume D riffs off from CERTIFIED LOVER BOY and Donda respectively.
- Enemy Approaching (Extended Version) - Undertale is a parody of BaconBeLike's video Mr Incredible becoming uncanny season 1 (full movie), with Undertale arrangements of each song featured in the "Mr. Incredible Becoming Uncanny/Canny" memes, and new graphics of Frisk emulating the images seen in said memes.
- The description of Karakuri Castle - Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash says "This channel description blows!", a reference to the "This game blows!" Running Gag about Chibi Robo Zip Lash in Scott The Woz videos.
- Seasonal Return [Episode 1] (Beta Mix) - The SilvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis is a recreation of one of the SCP-3922 test logs where the original plot of episode 1 is interrupted by Three Moons Initiative operators arriving on the scene to arrest the Voice for "crimes against anime."
- The rip of Minecraft's "Stal" features a reference to SMPLive: an audio clip of a very upset Schlatt. He even commented on it:jschlatt: my lawyers will be in touch
