    General
Characters
  • Asian character 'ko' of Dragon of Fire Kimiko Tohomiko means 'fire.'
  • Dragon of the Wind (Raimundo Pedrosa) is similar to Kagura the Wind Sorceress.
    • Also, "Rai" is Japanese for 'Thunder' and Raimundo's main attack through season two is called 'typhoon boom,' which sounds like thunder.
  • In his regular form, Dojo Kanojo Cho is considerably similar to Mushu where they both are comedic Chinese dragons of an usually small size and voices are provided by comedic actors Eddie Murphy (Mushu) and Wayne Knight (Dojo).
  • Jack Spicer shares the same name to American poet and dramatist born January 30, 1925 and died August 17, 1965 who was a key member in the San Francisco Renaissance
  • In her ghost form, Wuya shares little similarities to Shendu where both once were all powerful beings, but now are powerless and need artifacts with magical powers hidden across the globe for centuries, though while Wuya's a witch who was defeated by a Xiaolin Dragon, Shendu was a demon defeated by an immortal.
  • Chase Young's armor looks very similar to the Saiyan combat suits with the chest design on the front and the lines toing through the shoulder and thigh guards.
    • In many ways, Chase Young has references to Masters of the Universe: His lair is the same color as Skeletor's home, Snake Mountain, big cats like He-man and Skeletor, and he has the ability to change between human and reptile form like King Hsss.
    • Him selling his soul for dark knowledge is based on German tale about a man named Faust who sold his sold and body after twenty-four years to the Devil if he would serve Faust for his life, tell Faust anything he wished, and never to lie to Faust to which Faust gave a blood sacrifice and renounced his Christian faith to seal the pact.
    • Not to mention Chase Young has some things in common with Shang Tsung.
  • Cyclops is of Greek Mythology and later Roman Mythology.
  • Not only does Katnappé dresses in full length feline attire, but her voice actress, who reprise Katnappé's character, has done another cat-like burglar.
    • Her whiskers are very similar to Naruto's.
  • Tubbimaru's fighting style is like The Blob.
  • Pandabubba shares a similar name as Ponda Baba, the name of the Aqualish who picked a fight with Luke Skywalker in the Mos Eisley Cantina.
  • In Chinese, Dashi (大师) from Grand Master Dashi means "great master", revealing his rank as a Grand Master.
It is possible Grandmaster Dashi is based on Rigen Daishi, a Buddhist monk from 874, famous for building the site of Daigoji Temple. Daishi (also Shobo), was also known as the Great Master of Holy Treasures, which, in Xiaolin Showdown, could be taken to mean the Shen-Gong-Wu.

Shen-Gong-Wu

  • A possible prototype of the Shroud of Shadows Shen-Gong-Wu from the first show, the Shroud of Monster Camo is like the Invisibility Cloak from the Harry Potter series where both object has a flaw. For the Invisibility Cloak, it'll lose its effectiveness as the hair of a mythical creature it's made of becomes more opaque and the Shroud of Monster Camo causes the wearer to be visible periodically, but sometimes in random intervals.
  • Just like the Woozy Shooter Shen-Gong-Wu in the show's predecessor series, the "Wuzzy Bunny" releasing purple smoke could be a reference to a song called "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix.
  • The name 'Medusa' from "Medusa Comb" comes from the Gorgon of the Perseus myth.

Other

    Season 1

New Monk on the Block

A Girl Named Willow

  • In order to test her suspicion of Wilow, Kimiko deliberately pushes the teapot off the table and Willow instinctively catches it is similar to how in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), where John deliberately drops a wine bottle, which Jane passes catches it and both find out the other's identity as a result.

Xiaolin Redemption

  • Episode title sounds like The Shawshank Redemption
  • Ping Pong, Omi, Kimiko, Raimundo, Clay and Dojo escort Salvador Cumo to the most secure prison in the world called "Laughkatraz", a spoof of Alcatraz.

Laws of Nature

  • Chase Young uses one of his ribs to create Shadow, a biblical reference to Adam and Eve.
    • Also, Shadow is shown being born and rapidly aging on a scallop shell like Aphrodite.
  • Muffinface asks Jack if it's true he and Wuya are still not 'Facelook' official.

Tokyo Madness

  • Dojo pulling a thing of wax out of his ear and making a candle of it by lighting a flame is similar to what Shrek does.
  • Kimiko's virtual pet momo erachu is based on FooPets if not Neopet.
  • Spicer states that using a kill command won't work after he hacks the virtual world Kimiko's father made, stating that "it's a zombie," 'zombie' being an actual term associated with computers that have been hacked and under someone else's control.
  • When Kimiko enters the virtual world the second time, she gains a bike that leaves a trail behind like the bikes in TRON: Legacy.
    • Her outfit and one wheel cycle in the Virtual World are strikingly similar to that of Yumi from Yumi Ishiyama when she is in a virtual world. Also they are both Japanese.
  • Upon the snake virus coiling itself around Kimiko, Jack does Michael Jackson's moonwalk.

Out of Ping Pong's Mind

Magic Stallion and the Wild Wild West

  • After Clay and Kimiko placed a boulder on the railroad track in order to stop Jack who has the herd of stolen cows in a train:
Omi: Blockage is set up. Let's go Mission Impossible.
    Raimundo: 'Mission Possible.'
  • When Clay, Ping Pong, Omi, Kimiko and Raimudno arrive at Clays' Grandpappy's ranch, there's a sign reading "Snake River Rodeo", a spoof of actual rodeo "Snake River Stampede" held in Nampa, Idaho.

Mi Temple, Mi Casa

Planet of the Dragon

  • After being a target practice for Clay, Omi, Ping Pong, Kimiko and Raimundo as well as them telling them to wash their stuff thus being treated like a slave, Dojo starts madly shouting before noticing a falling comet coming right before him.
During his rant, Dojo makes a reference to protest song "we shall overcome!" used in the civil rights movement as well as John Merrick's "I am not an animal! I am a human being!" quote.
Dojo: What am I, your servant? Dojo do this, Dojo, do that. One day I will be free! We shall overcome! We shall overcome! We shall overcome ONE DAY! I demand respect! I am not an animal! I am a—-
  • As the man disguised as a dragon tells Raimundo, Kimiko, Ping Pong, Clay and Omi who are now in the distant future on how dragons became the dominate species and human are now slaves, during his flashback, Dojo says "I have a dream where dragons are free!" The "I have a dream!" line is one of history's most famous speeches made by American civil rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr.
