"Heroes Never Die, It's Hero Time" has a boatload of references and nods to various Science Fiction and Superhero media.

  • "Chapter 3" has a cameo appearance of Jumba Jookiba from Lilo & Stitch and a Yokian from Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius.
  • "Chapter 5": Dr. Animo rants about the "meddling kids" and "teenage mutant turtle". The former is from Scooby-Doo and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
    • The latter is mentioned again by Present Mic who was a big fan of the show.

  • In "Chapter 9", Uraraka's home, Endori is based on Planet Endor from Return of the Jedi and Lothaal Mountain and the wolves are to Star Wars Rebels.
  • In "Chapter 17", two lines are worth noting: Four Arms dialogue of "I can do this all day" references to Captain America while Nue's "I want you to hit me" reference to The Dark Knight.
  • In "Chapter 23", Four Arms calls out his attack "Four Arms Smash!" like "Hulk Smash!" from The Incredible Hulk.
  • In "Chapter 32", Geonosis City is a nod to the planet Geonosis from Star Wars. To match the bug-theme chapter, Geonosis is a planet ruled by bugs.
  • "Chapter 33" has Uraraka and Gran Torino go to Dathomir City, named after Dathomir from Star Wars, fitting the chapter's magic theme as that's where witches known as the Night Sisters live and is the planet Darth Maul originated from.
  • The second bonus chapter is about Izuku learning to use his hoverboard. Several of his fails are references to Tony Stark's failures to make the Mark 2
  • In chapter 38, Hisashi mentions having to blow up a moon-sized battle station, and he even got a medal, bringing a new hope to the galaxy.
  • In Chapter 39, The Razor Crest appears as Hisashi Midoriya's Ship, as well as Chopper/C1-10P as his Droid. Also Hisashi Mentions winning said spaceship in a game of Sabacc with an Idiot's Array.
    • Hisashi uses dried mud for camouflage and to suppress his odor from the Vulpimancer which is similar to how Dutch used mud to hide from the Predator in Predator.
  • Chapter 47:
  • Chapter 48:
    • One of the first stops on Izuku & Hisashi's Roadtrip is Naofumi's Tanuki Park.
    • The Tanuki park and the following stops are a big shout-out to the road trip montage from A Goofy Movie. Hisashi also sings the song "On The Open Road" from the film.
    • Hisashi's explanation of how the Rustbucket was passed down in his family is the same as Ping's noodle shop
  • Chapter 49:
  • Chapter 50:
  • Chapter 51:
  • Chapter 59:
    • The training droids in the Mt. Fuji Plumber Base are the Battle Droids from Star Wars.

      Diamondhead: You underestimate my power!
      Momo: Don't try it!
