- According to the behind the scenes video, "Vatican City 1999" was modeled directly after the skyscrapers in Twisted Metal 2. In fact, they even got Mel McMurrin (who voiced Calypso up until Head-On) to be the voice of the Computer Fighters arcade cabinet.
- The beige jumpsuits and different colored helmets and elbow pads they are seen wearing when they end up in the game are clearly a reference to Nick Arcade.
