  • Ichiko somehow dons a Kenshiro-like face to avoid being spotted by Ranmaru, after she made Ranmaru her scapegoat in order to escape the police note  in the same chapter. Momiji and Keita quickly follow her example, along with two other classmates, much to her frustration.note
  • Several characters reference One Piece:
    • One scene had the characters don masks of the franchise's characters.
    • Momiji's return in chapter 32 is a re-enactment of how Coby met Luffy.
    • Momiji and Kumagai cosplay as Miss Merry Christmas and Mr. 4 in the anime's 8th episode.
    • Episode 9/chapter 5: Gum-Gum Receive. Bonus points in the anime for Momiji instantly sporting Luffy's post-Timeskip look and scars. In the English Dub, this serves as an Actor Allusion since Momiji's voice actress, Colleen Clinkenbeard, also does the voice of Luffy in FUNimation's run.
    • In Chapter 34, Tanpopo has her two puppets use a "Four Sword Style" technique, one blatantly referencing Kaku of CP9.
  • Another several to Dragon Ball:
    • As Momiji describes the balance between fortune and misfortune, Goku and Vegeta pop up.
    • In Episode 4 Kumagai produces a Spear of Longinus. From the same episode, Momo'o goes Super Saiyan before transforming into a... chihuahua (during the same scene, Momiji and Bobby are dressed as Master Roshi and Goku).
    • In Episode 5, Momiji and Kumagai reenact the infamous "OVER 9000" scene. Later in the episode, they can't find Ichiko due to Kumagai breaking the scouter.
    • Followed up on again in Episode 6, where Bobby winds up reenacting Nappa's death scene.
    • In Chapter 36, the young gods dress up as Goku, Danpei Tange, and one other.
    • Chapter 50 has Momiji imitate Vegeta.
  • In one chapter (also featured in episode 12), Ichiko became so paranoid of Momiji's abrupt niceness that she imagines herself in a critical scene from Death Note.
  • While Ichiko describes herself, an image of her dressed as Medaka Kurokami appears.
  • In the dubbed version of episode 1, Momiji parrots Arthur Dent: "This must be Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays." Colleen Clinkenbeard even puts on an English accent.
  • In episode 2, Momiji briefly turns into Moka — though with Momiji's messy hair and Girlish Pigtails.
    • The same episode has a Doraemon reference a little earlier when Ichiko hears Momiji in her closet (not knowing it's her).
  • Momiji imitates Lupin III at a couple of points in the anime. Ichiko calls her out on it the first time.
  • From the same episode, we have Ichiko ripping the bathtub out of her bathroom floor in a manner very reminiscent of the infamous battleship scene from the End of Evangelion.
  • Ichiko insults Ranmaru by calling her "Kinnikuman".
  • Episode 8 is shoutout central:
    • Conan Edogawa (cosplayed by Momiji) pops up for a couple of seconds.
    • "CLENCH YOUR TEETH!" Though this is accompanied by a slap instead of a punch.
    • Also note the music playing while Momiji is cooking: "Those Who Fight Further" from Final Fantasy VII.
    • After the abrupt ending to the fight between Ichiko and Ranmaru, one students complains that the fight should have at least been long as the Yusuke/Yomi fight from YuYu Hakusho.
      • In that very scene where that line was spoken, the aforementioned pair can be seen among the crowd.
  • The beginning of episode 11 has Momiji distracted from her call with Yamabuki by a Pokémon game on her Nintendo DS ("I caught a rare monster!").
  • After Momiji switches personality due to her bath, Ichiko goes into a Death Note Imagine Spot.
  • The fake preview refers to the sequel of the anime as Binbougami-ga! Darkness!
  • The Chief Shinigami is named Ichigo. In another chapter, Inugami is drawn in Tite Kubo's signature style when excitedly talking about the Shomin Shourai's possible upgrade into a Zanpakuto.
  • Ichiko gets delivery from a place called Pizza Cats.
  • When Momiji introduces the changing ring, she does it as Honey Kisaragi and her alter ego.
  • Momiji's intro in chapter 42 is not unlike another twin-tailed slacker blond.
  • In the dub of episode 8, Momiji is discussing Karaoke plans with some girls in the background, and eventually she quotes the infamous "I'm so excited" scene from Saved by the Bell.
  • Chapter 32 has Momiji's lie rip off wholesale from Sgt. Frog.
  • Volume 6's Extra Round features Momiji and Kumamaro dressed up like hitmen. Kumamaro in particular dresses as Golgo 13. Bobby also takes a shot at the look in Chapter 53.
  • In Chapter 28, Ichiko getting sick prompts Momiji to burst in donning an imitation Black Jack costume. Later that same chapter Ichiko fires back with a shout-out of her own.
  • Chapter 33's color spread is the result of requests for everyone getting a fun costume alt. Many of them are references:
    • Ibuki is seen as a poopier parody of Friend.
    • A Momiji and Ichiko in the background are dressed as Sengoku Basara's Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura. Ichiko's solo outfits include Cutie Honey, while Momiji's solo outfits also include Rei Ayanami and Hatsune Miku (while holding a Kekko Kamen mask).
    • Kumamaro and the rest of the spirit animals are dressed as Captain Olimar and his Pikmin.
    • Fittingly, the homeroom teacher is shown dressed as Nube.
    • Tama-chan is shown dressed as Magical Taruruto-kun's titular character.
    • Nadeshiko's absurdly large version in the background is based off of Mega Sachiko Kobayashi.
  • Chapter 34 has Tanpopo and Ichiko dressed in the style of Pretty Cure heroines courtesy of a pair of wand items. Momiji even turns into a cutesy mascot to celebrate/mock the change.
  • in Chapter 41, Ichiko moves past her biological father in the style of Eyeshield 21.
  • Chapter 48 has a reference to Ninku.
  • Chapter 49 has Bobby (in Ichiko's body) rile up the male Sports Day contestants in Beatrice's iconic dress.
  • The ultimate Tsukumonogami item Botan carries with her is a device called the Mobile Suit of the Item Lord.
  • When Ichiko offers Momiji a place in her house to live, she suggests the storage closet and then tells her to think of her situation as that of a certain robot cat from the future.
  • During Volume 12, Momiji demonstrates proper butler etiquette by decanting tea in a pose and costume reminiscent of a certain hell of a butler. The gag is made more blatant when repeated for an Autumn School Festival poster depicting Ranmaru the same way. They even have Gothic text and the borders found on the early series' volumes!
    • Shinobu has a habit of referencing famous butlers when he's sufficiently smacked around. He namedrops Sebastian Machiellis, but also namedrops Hayate and Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de's Kageyama.
  • Vole 11's character introduction page has Momiji, Ichiko, and Ranmaru do Kamen Rider poses. Momiji does the "Skill 1" pose, Ichiko does the "Power 2" pose, and Ranmaru poses like Kamen Rider Kuuga. Nadeshiko is doing the classic Ultraman pose.
  • The castle at the center of Ikari's city-wide deification plan is called Fu-un! Castle Ikari, a parody of the Japanese title of Takeshi's Castle.
  • When Bobby awakens as "Super Bobby", Momiji dresses as Heihachi Edajima.
  • At the end of a rather short character profile for Ikari, he mentions that he took a liking to Gag Manga Biyori.
