    Armor
  • The Cryptlurker equipment series resembles the ones found in the Dark Souls series. During the Live Letter where they were introduced, Yoshida subtly admits it was inspired by "a certain series" but it will not be a collaboration.
  • The Artifact Armor for the Dark Knight in Shadowbringers is called the Bale Armor. This is a reference to similarly named armor in Final Fantasy XI, but there's a distinct look about this armor compared to that set. It's got two horns which, though uneven, seem to be like pointed ears on a cowl. Unlike all other Dark Knight AF gear, the helm covers only half the face (the Stormblood armor shows the face when the visor is lifted, but normally hides it; the Heavensward armor hides it completely) and gives you white glowing eyes. And from the front, the back skirting looks almost like a cape. So, it strongly resembles a certain Caped Crusader and shares a name with one of the actors who played the character... and it's exclusive to the Dark Knight job.
  • The Artifact Armor for the new Reaper class in Endwalker takes more than a few visual cues from Bloodborne.
  • For completely removing some gear slot from your glamour design, there's "The Emperor's New" gear, from pants to rings to shields, all of which is completely invisible.
  • The Phoenix Riser helmet and suit that's rewarded for Moonfire Faire 2023 (or bought in the Mogstation afterwards) is definitely based on Super Sentai/Power Rangers.

A Realm Reborn

Heavensward

Stormblood

"What a seal, what a mighty good seal."

Shadowbringers

  • The description for Tinker's Bell reads "Said to be named for a pixie...unless you ask the pixies, who adamantly deny that any of their kind would ever have borne such a ludicrous name."
  • A minion you can get from Holminster switch is Black Hayate.
  • One minion you can get with Quick Exploration or Waterside Exploration 25 (Level 80) is Domakin. Of course the journal is quite quick to say it's most definitely not a warrior with the body of a mortal and soul of a dragon.
  • The description of the Ancient One Minion includes the words "Fractured but whole."
  • The Unlucky Rabbit minion's name and description in the minion guide references Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The rabbit's status of being created for the Gold Saucer, but becoming a mascot for the Platinum Mirage instead due to a legal loophole before eventually the Saucer eventually regained the rights mirror's Oswald being created by Walt Disney, having his rights taken by competitors through legal means and eventually being reclaimed by Disney.
  • The Lalinator 5.H0's description is that it doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you have been lali-ho'd.
  • The Dainsleif F1's description stresses that it does not form the head, or any other part of the body.
