  • Nick once refers to officers Delgato and Fangmeyer as "Shere Khan and Balto".
  • Lady Lang says "Mother knows best" to her adopted sons.
  • The bilby police officer at Outback Island is called Baggins. Bilby Baggins.
  • Some in-universe action heroes referenced in the story are Woodchuck Norris, Ham Solo and Bambo.
  • Nick's mother's first name is Marian and she lives in Sherwood Apartments.
  • When making fun of the Count's moniker, Nick mimics the speech patterns of the Count from Sesame Street.
  • The video of Judy and Sang fighting each other is uploaded to ZooTube as "Batbunny Begins".
  • One of the wolves from the Lang clan is called Felix Junior.
  • An alcoholic drink sold in the Rainforest District is called "The Tarzan" because "it makes you so drunk that you scream uproariously".
  • John Wilde's hustles earned him the nickname "Honest John".
  • A Shout-Out to Reynard the Fox that is also a major spoiler: Nick's father uses the alias "Count Reynard".
  • Mrs. Pong's noodle shop is an extended one to Kung Fu Panda: the noodle shop is owned by a panda, the clientele are pigs and bunnies, the waitress is a somewhat furious tigress, and the song "Kung Fu Fighting" plays there.
  • El Orgullo's mannerisms (including his No Indoor Voice and Third-Person Person shtick) is inspired by The Boulder from Avatar: The Last Airbender (who, in turn, is based on several Real Life professional wrestlers).
  • During her match against El Orgullo, Carla paraphrases two iconic lines from The Princess Bride.
Hello. My name is Carla Hyenandez. You crippled my partner. Prepare to Die.
    Inconceivable!
    • And one more after she knocks him out:
Rest well and dream of large lionesses.
  • In Chapter 27, Lucy Sang locking up Carla and putting her through deadly trials while wearing a white mask with red markings and calling herself "Jigsang" is a clear reference to Saw.
  • Drabble 4, and part of 8, is a Whole-Plot Reference to the original Metal Gear, with tons of references to the rest of the series dropped throughout.
    • Drabble 8 also prominently features Eric and Delilah, who are not only aspiring Ace Attorney lawyers, but also hold a mock trial in the style of the games.
  • Drabble 13 has most of the main characters dressing up for Howloween, their costumes including:
  • Reynard channeling Leon Belmont in one of his boasts to Narwhalter.
"I'll kill you AND the water!"
  • "DON'T DAZE HIM, HOES!"
  • The Barks and the Pets from Drabble 19 are a pretty blatant one towards West Side Story. It's even mentioned that most of their gang wars usually just involve snapping their fingers a lot and dancing menacingly at each other.
  • Chapter 36 has Carla chasing Lucy through a haunted house attraction. Naturally, this brings out several references to various horror franchises.
  • Similarly, Bogo's fight with Drummond Rane eventually has both of them using a slew of Team Fortress 2 weapons against each other.
  • Reynard confronts Nick in Chapter 37 dressed as Darth Sidious and quoting Darth Vader. Naturally, this leads into an all-out Laser Blade duel between the two.
