The Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley was a series of direct-to-video specials and accompanying books produced by Dualstar in late 90s, described as a "musical mystery series".

Mary-Kate and Ashley are Kid Detectives who run a detective agency out of their attic in southern California.

Tropes found in the series:

  • Canine Companion: Clue, their "silent partner" and a basset hound.
  • Convection Shmonvection: Played with. In the volcano episode, the girls and the miners are able to get fairly close to the active lava and suffer no ill effects. However, the geologist roaming the area wears a special heat-resistant suit and warns them all to keep their distance, emphasizing that his suit is the only thing that keeps him from getting hurt.
  • A Dog Ate My Homework: Literally. Clue eats the girls' book reports in Hotel Who-Done-It.
  • Formula-Breaking Episode: The Sea World episode takes place at, well, Sea World, and not their attic. Instead of receiving a call to solve a case, they spend the episode trying to solve the mystery behind the dead body they find in the park. It also has notably different framing and seems to be shot differently.
  • Kid Detective: Of course.
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: Mary-Kate frequently makes these towards Ashley while they research, much to Ashley's chagrin.
  • Running Gag: The girls managing to go everywhere on their bikes in 15 minutes. Over the entire US, over the ocean, to Transylvania.
