"Feeling like my heart so falling in love..."

Bastian: You're such a smart ass. You know Bintang for a day. She said it was brilliant. I'm sure she agrees with me.
Adi: Maybe I just met you two for one day. But I've been married since you were in elementary school. Marriage isn't as simple as you think, Young Man!

Tetangga Masa Gitu? (usually translated as What An Annoying Neighbour!) is an Indonesian Sitcom aired on NET. It ran in for three seasons from 2014 to 2017. The show stars two pairs of husband and wife: Adi and Angel, who have been married for ten years, and Bastian and Bintang who have been married just for a week and only recently moved in. The show is centered around the contrast between the bickering experienced couple and the Sickeningly Sweethearts newlyweds.

The first two episodes has official English subtitles: episode 1, episode 2.

Tetangga Masa Gitu? contains example of:

  • Alphabetical Theme Naming: The older couple have names starting with "A" while the younger one have names starting with "B".
  • Bickering Couple, Peaceful Couple: Adi and Angel bicker with each other almost every episode; Bastian and Bintang are perpetually in honeymoon.
  • Coordinated Clothes: The Bastian-Bintang subplot of "Maradona Dari Gunung Kidul" are centered around this: Bintang forces Bastian to wear matching pink shirts (which Bastian hates) for the weekend. At the end of the episode, Bastian manages to get rid of his shirt, only for Bintang to reveal she has bought more matching clothes for him.
  • Cut Short: The third and last season ends without fully resolving both plotlines (each couple needs to move out and Adi—Bastian conflict) of the two-part finale, but with a promise of a new season. No such season is made as of this writing.
  • Foolish Husband, Responsible Wife: Adi is the lazy, deadbeat husband who likes to do whatever he wants while Angel is the hardworking wife who does all the chores and tries to order Adi around.
  • Framed Face Opening: The original opening credits introduce the four main characters this way: within a circle and with a ribbon spelling out their actor's name. It was quickly discarded and changed to an opening that shows each couple's activities, with a speech bubble showing their actor's name this time.
  • Grand Romantic Gesture: One of Angel's ex-boyfriend, Ruly Ernando, is a particularly rich one and once proposed to her by going down a rope from a helicopter while flowers are placed around the proposal location.
  • Lazy Husband: Adi prefers to spend most of his time painting in his house, refusing to do anything productive, much to Angel's frustration.
  • Laugh Track: Used a lot every episode, along with other stock recordings such as the "Awww!" sound.
  • Standardized Sitcom Housing: Both Adi and Angel's house and Bastian and Bintang's are two stories house, with the front door immediately leads to the living room, which is not separated from the kitchen and the dining room, and the stairs upstage leads to the bedroom in the second floor. The only major difference between the two house is that they mirror each other (e.g. Bastian and Bintang's front door is stage right while Adi and Angel's is stage left), which also plays this trope straight.
  • Three-Wall Set: Pretty much every room is only shown from one side, making it clear that this trope is used.
