In 1986, the Children's Television Workshop collaborated with Random House Home Video to create My Sesame Street Home Video. This activity Direct to Video series was essentially mini Sesame Street episodes, centered on a specific educational theme.

In 1990, Random House stopped using the label and moved on to Sesame Songs Home Video. They did go back to the original series with two additional titles in 1994. When Sony Wonder took over distribution rights a year later, the My Sesame Street Home Video label was dropped but the logo was used on new releases until 1996.

Titles are listed based on their original "proof of purchase" numbering.


#1 - Learning About Letters

Big Bird, Telly and friends are learning letters. Segments included

Count Von Count hosts his program on SMV: Sesame Music Video. It features top 7 Sesame Street songs on his program. The number 1 song is always Count it Higher by Chrissy and the Alphabeats. With promotions of Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch. Songs on the program are:

My Sesame Street Home Video provides examples of:

  • Animated Credits Opening / Logo Joke: The series opens with an animated Cookie Monster taking a bite on the Sesame Street logo. After the title fades, Cookie Monster remarks "Delicious!"
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: At one point in the late '80s, the cassette shells were colored green. Then Rank Video Services America, Random House's duplicator at the time, started using disposable cassettes which were colored green, and so the shells reverted to black to avoid confusion.
