Minx is a 2022 series that aired its first season on HBO Max and stars Ophelia Lovibond and Jake Johnson.
In December 2022, Max cancelled the show, but it was then picked up by Starz for a second season, which began on July 21, 2023.
Tropes:
- Bait-and-Switch: In Season 2, while hosting a party, Shelly holds up an earring she found and demands to know "who here has been sleeping with my husband?" After a pause three women raise their hands and Shelly sighs to clarify "I mean in the last month," with two lowering their hands. It turns out Shelly is now part of a "swingers" group and is only upset the other woman left her earring where her children could get at it.
- Brick Joke: The first episode of season 2 has this:
Joyce (talking about Constance's Afghan hounds Ferdinand and Isabella): I-I can tell they're big sweeties. Look at you, you big, bad Spanish monarchs. Are you gonna pillage the New World?
Constance: Don't use that word. Triggers the kill instinct.
It's not clear at the time which word was the trigger. We find out seven episodes later. It's "pillage".- Mile-High Club: Joyce has a quickie in the airplane bathroom with a random guy she just met on her flight. Afterwards the man wants Joyce to sign his copy of the Rolling Stone magazine issue she was on the cover of so that he can show it off to his buddies at work later.
- Really Gets Around: Joyce once she starts exploring her sexuality and becomes less uptight. So far in the series she's hooked up with Minx magazine male model Shane in a restaurant bathroom, a rockstar, a male stripper she met at a show, and had a quickie with a random guy she just met in an Airplane bathroom.
- '70s Hair: Normal, since this show does take place in The '70s.
- Young Future Famous People: Season 2 has Joyce brushing off the photographer working on a story, a young woman by the name of Annie Leibovitz.
