Hitmen (original Swedish title: Torpederna) is a Swedish drama-comedy series about two very different hitmen, Sonny and Nima, who become partners and start working for the crime lord Goran Stankovic. However, things don't go as planned.

Sonny has just came out of prison due to probation, and has started a relationship with his social worker Camilla, leading to an even bigger desire to start a new, better and normal life once he's out. Everything seems to be turning out good, with Camilla being able to finally afford their dream house, but things get weird when a new last-second offer comes in for the house.

Sonny starts searching for jobs, but has a hard time finding anything due to his past as a criminal. Sonny, to get money for the house, starts working for Goran, and is happily welcomed back. Sonny gets an order to capture a "troublemaker" who has, according to Goran, taken money from him, or at the very least knows where said money is. This person is none other than Nima, who tells Sonny where the money is, and they get along pretty well, despite initially running away due to the possibility of Sonny murdering him on Goran's behalf. Nima begs Sonny not to tell Goran that he did run away at first, and Sonny agrees, which would begin their partnership. However, what initially started as One Final Job quickly goes out of hand when Nima constantly screws up the missions, and eventually ruins Sonny's job.

The series has two seasons. The first one aired 2014 and the second 2017, and both seasons have been praised for the effective blend of dark humor and drama, and basically caricaturing an overused genre. It's really hard to find a "good guy" in the series, and almost every character is in one way or another a criminal or just a generally unsympathetic person.

This series contains examples of:

  • Affably Evil: Most of the characters.
    • Sonny is a fixer, but as he states himself he doesn't kill unless he really, really has to and feels remorse whenever someone is hurt or even killed by his actions.
    • Nima can be extremely vicious when threatening victims, and his incompetence does lead into major killings (such as killing Pekka). However, he's extremely social and can be very likable when he's not doing his rather unpleasant job.
    • Goran, Sonny and Nima's boss is cruel and will punish anyone who betrays him, but it's not something he necessarily takes pride in. Oh, and he does like the hot dog Sonny and Nima recommend during season 2!
    • The Brick (kloss) is big, strong, and the dumbest criminal in the series, which is probably also why he's so polite and hardly ever kills anyone by himself.
  • Anyone Can Die: Season 1 has Dragan, Kloss, Pekka, and the unnamed leak, all set up as characters who were going to have bigger roles than they ultimately had. Whenever a new character is introduced, don't hold your hopes for the character to survive.
  • Asshole Victim: Dragan in season 1. Fairly likable for his over-the-top personality but nonetheless had it coming.
  • Ax-Crazy: In season 2, Camilla states that she's "completely fucking insane" while blackmailing a well-known artist into painting an exclusive painting so that they can give it to Goran and get done with their debt to him. Obviously though it'a Played for Laughs.
  • Big Bad: Goran. In season 1 he's the one who repeatedly brings Sonny back into his criminal lifestyle and in season 2 he's out for vengeance against Sonny and Nima for killing his sibling Dragan.
  • Big "NO!": Sonny utters this whenever Nima does something truly stupid, but does a smaller one when Camilla realizes Sonny's still a criminal.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer:
    • Goran's Norweigan hitman Frank in season 2 has occasional moments of this. He can go from brutally fighting someone and having temper tantrums over someone looking him in the eye to expressing his love for hot dogs in the blink of an eye.
    • Nima is a great example, being as friendly as he can (at least he tries...) and is good at starting conversations, but quickly changes personality when it's working time.
  • Cool Old Guy: Åke, Camilla's father, is most likely aware of Sonny being a criminal but doesn't say anything about it because he knows what would happen. Considering he's also a veterinarian, he often helps Sonny when he needs to have a surgery done for someone.
  • Hidden Depths: Ditte at first seems like a typical golddigger who's only married to Goran because he's wealthy, but she's probably one of the smarter characters in the series.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Lina, Camilla's daughter, is very smart for her age and seems to be aware of what's going on. Might as well be the most adult person in the series.
