  • AKB49 – Renai Kinshi Jourei:

    • Miss Aphrodite is also aware of Minori's true gender, and takes "her" under her wing prior to "her" graduation.
    • At the very end of the series, all 250 AKB fans who attended Minori's graduation concert become this for Minoru, having watched his farewell confessional and convinced to keep the memory and good will of Minori alive out of respect. Not a word gets out to tabloids (thanks to Miss Aphrodite and Raoul's help) or on the Internet, at least from what we see of the four months after Minori's graduation.

    • Tatsuki, Keigo, Mizuiro and Chizuru are also aware that something is happening but tell nobody outside their circle. Eventually, Ichigo admits everything to them.
    • Kon became a reluctant secret keeper for Isshin. He found out hundreds of chapters before Ichigo that Isshin was a shinigami, but Urahara and Isshin both swore him to secrecy.
    • Yumichika, Renji, Keigo, Komamura, Iba, Akon, Mayuri and Ichigo are all secret-keepers for Ikkaku's bankai. Mayuri's a subversion: he accidentally told Ichigo before remembering it's a secret, and doesn't care he revealed it. Ikkaku doesn't know Ichigo knows.
    • Hisagi is the sole living person who knows the truth about Yumichika's abilities. Specifically, Yumichika's shikai is actually a kido-type that drains spiritual pressure, something that he keeps secret so as to fit in with the combat-oriented eleventh division.
    • The Ishida family is such an unknown to the Vandenreich that Yhwach used Exact Words to lie with the truth, ensuring the Stern Ritter learned only of Uryuu Ishida's existence. • At the start of Boku Girl, Mizuki's best friend Takeru is the only person who knows he's been Gender Bent into a girl. Later, Takeru's sister Mei is brought in on the full secret. Mizuki's roommate Yamada knows Mizuki is physically female, but thinks he's a girl masquerading as a boy. As far as Mizuki knows, the same is true of classmate Loki, though in that case Loki is the cause of the Gender Bender. As of Chapter 38, Mizuki's crush Fujiwara has also been told the full truth.
  • Tamura and Ryousuke from Bokura no Hentai crossdress for various reasons. Ryousuke threatens Marika's life in the second chapter for her to keep his secret. This leads to his mother getting sent for mental health treatment, as his reason for crossdressing is because he's pretending to be his deceased sister for her.
  • Captain Tsubasa:
    • In the anime version of the junior high arc, Sanae becomes Takeshi and later Hyuuga's secret keeper in regards to Hyuuga being benched by his coach, rather than injured or ill. This is because the first directly told her in hopes to have her talk to Tsubasa so he'd intervene (but she refused, since she saw it as something Tsubasa shouldn't be concerned about, and Takeshi apologized for potentially putting her in a very awkward position); later Sanae and Hyuuga bump into each other and she tells him what happened with Takeshi, Hyuuga takes it well and neither says anything to others.
    • Tsubasa becomes this in the Shin manga and OAV's, when Wakabayashi tells him that his unexpected harshness towards the Japanese team in the mini-tournament they're in is a mix of Tough Love and pretending to be a jerk. Tsubasa promises to not say anything and keeps his word until Hyuuga, who had become a Secret Secret-Keeper, reveals the deal before the final match.
  • Tomoyo Daidouji, Syaoran Li, Meiling Li, Toya Kinomoto, Kaho Mizuki, and eventually Yukito Tsukishiro for Cardcaptor Sakura.
  • Case Closed:
    • The trope gets invoked in a nasty manner in a filler case. A girl named Shouko Utakura finds her friend Sawanami dead and, due to his dying clues, she realises that their common acquaintance Mifune is the murderer. However, Shouko is Mifune's Unrequited Tragic Maiden and decides to keep this a secret... but commits the huge mistake of actually telling Mifune that she knew the truth, but wouldn't snitch. Mifune, who had killed Sawanami because he was involved in his girlfriend's death and now believes Shouko had something to do with it too, thinks she'll denounce him anyway and a few days later he strangles her to death, having a breakdown when he's uncovered as the killer and another woman explains Shouko's true feelings.

    • Lelouch gains many more Secret Keepers as the second season progresses with the likes of Kallen and his own maid, Sayoko, but after the Grand Finale, only a handful of people in the world know that Zero has been replaced by Suzaku Kururugi (including Kallen, Nunnally, and probably others like Ohgi, Kaguya and the rest of the highranked Black Knights) .
    • On another level, Milly Ashford and Suzaku Kururugi are the only ones of Lelouch's friends who are aware of his and Nunally's royal heritage, since the former's family are the ones sheltering them and the latter lived with them during their initial exile.

They Can't Be Regenerated.: Emi is desperate to keep her Magic: The Gathering pastime a secret from both her overbearing mother and everyone at her school, fearing that it would ruin the reputation she built up for herself over the years. • The whole premise is Tohru Honda serving as the Secret Keeper of the Sohma family if she wants to continue living with them, leaving even her two closest friends out of the loop — even though one of them has Electric Psychic Powers. She's also the only one of the teenage cast members let in on Kureno no longer being cursed and Akito being female.

He reveals some details to Sam that his father Gotarzes II was a very superstitious man and received a prophecy that royal line will end with his child. Despite fathering two sons, Gotarzes remained deeply fearful. Then, he was told a counter-prophecy that if a child was born to the wife of his oldest son, the line will continue beyond his sons. Sam believes that makes Hilmes said chosen child, but Andragoras reveals more details, that the reader is unable to hear, but leaves Sam shaken. • Kaguya-sama: Love Is War:
    • Fujiwara is a reluctant one for Shirogane concerning his lack of athletic coordination, non-existent dancing skills, and inability to sing. As she knows that Shirogane has an image to uphold, she cannot bring herself not to help him both out of pity and her own self-respect, which always come at a great toll for her because he's an awful, awful learner. In fact, Fujiwara's ability to keep a secret is probably one of her greatest strengths and the entire reason why she is Kaguya's Only Friend at the start of the series.
    • The truth behind Ishigami's suspension in middle school is kept a secret for the most part out of respect for him wanting to keep Otomo from finding out the truth, though them members of the student council (sans Miko) know the truth and informed the various club leaders in order to insure that Ogino would face justice for his actions.

  • In the classic anime Kimagure Orange Road, blood members of the Kasuga family all had psychic powers and a desire to keep them a secret from the general populace. This necessitates that anyone who marries into the family (such as Kyousuke's father) must become a Secret Keeper. The manga takes this to its logical conclusion that members of the Kasuga clan must reveal their powers to those they intend to marry before they can get hitched. Hopefully, if you love them enough to marry them, they like you enough not to blab your secret to the world.
    • The other major secret that Kyousuke has — his budding love for Ayukawa Madoka — is kept by his sister Manami. In the manga, she even explains it to Hikaru, with the iconic "red hat" as proof.

  • Musuko ga Kawaikute Shikataganai Mazoku no Hahaoya: When Gospel's pediatrician Veronica calls to report that recent bloodwork done on him suggests his antibodies against anti-demon weapons are unusually high, it prompts some panic among Lorem, Merii, and Chiharu, as one of the main reasons the identity of Gospel's father is kept quiet is because as the demon whose poison anti-demon weapons are made from, Gospel has a potential resistance or immunity to them. This has potential to cause problems as the humanity's possesion of anti-demon weapons is the main thing keeping the peace between the two races. And Zoro only knows that Brook knows; the other two keep the knowledge to themselves because it would devastate Luffy if he found out, and Zoro didn't do it to be praised anyway.
