After the release of the 1968 movie Planet of the Apes turned out to be a huge success, both critically and financially; producer Arthur P. Jacobs approached Pierre Boulle author of La Planète des singes, which had inspired the movie, and asked him to submit a treatment for a sequel. Boulle wrote the script Planet of the Men. However, this text was never filmed.
