Live-Action TV

  • In the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode "Making Friends and Influencing People", when Agent 33 is being brainwashed we get this "gem":
Dr. Whitehall: Mr. Bakshi, let's go again.
Mr. Bakshi: Where do we start?
Dr. Whitehall: At the beginning! Like the song says - a very good place to start.
    • This one is doubly funny once we learn that Whitehall was an actual World War II German Nazi, so it's ironic that he would enjoy that play.
  • The Brittas Empire:
    • "Back From The Dead" reveals that Brittas has a ring with a (accidentally misprinted) lyric of the song "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" (specifically "Climb ev'ry mountain, ford ev'ry stream").

Fred Armisen also reprised his role of Lawrence Welk to close the sketch.
    • A parody of the movie has Maria (played by Ariana Grande) overhear the nuns (played by Aidy Bryant, Cecily Strong, Vanessa Bayer, Sasheer Zamata, and Kate McKinnon) singing "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria", then call them out on "singing smack" about her.

She expects Gabrielle to accept her Disposable Fiancé role and is taken aback when Gabrielle threatens her at gunpoint to back off. And unlike Elsa, Gabrielle is explicitly a Nazi.
    • When Melissa auditions for a cabaret, a Military Brat recounts during her own audition that after she and her siblings performed at one of her father's parties, she asked to stay and taste some champagne, but the father answered, "No." Unlike Liesl, however, this woman snuck a drink from the bottle with help from her father's "real fancy" girlfriend.
