- Dorian Gray is one of the The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The Big Bad turns out to be holding his picture hostage so he'll act as The Mole.
- Swan in Phantom of the Paradise has aspects of this trope. As it's a 1970's rock musical, film reel takes the place of the picture.
Music
- The music video for David Bowie's "Look Back in Anger" is a Whole-Plot Reference to the story, albeit with the person and portrait's roles swapped.
- The Blake's 7 episode "Rescue" is a Whole-Plot Reference IN SPACE!
- In Forever Knight, Janette refers to the vampire's need to keep moving to hide the fact that they don't age as "the Dorian Gray Syndrome".
- Star Trek: The Next Generation. The episode "Man of the People" is another adaptation for science fiction. In this case the Villain of the Week channels all his negativity into women he's involved with, causing them to age in his stead.
- Get Smart. In "Age Before Duty", a KAOS scientist invents a paint he calls Dorian Gray that causes Rapid Aging when used to re-touch a photograph of his target.

- In The Haunted Mansion at Disney World there is a portrait of the Aging Man who is designed to be Dorian Gray.
