  • Dave: The title character is singing the title song when he enters his house, until he notices the Secret Service agents there.
  • The Silence of the Lambs: When Clarice goes to see Dr. Lecter at the police station he's being held at, he asks if she's there on orders to deal with him again. When Clarice says she came on her own, Dr. Lecter cracks, "People will say we're in love."
  • When Harry Met Sally...: While shopping at an electronics store, Harry and Sally see a karaoke machine and sing "The Surrey With the Fringe On Top", a moment that turns awkward when Harry sees his ex-wife at the store.
  • I'm Thinking of Ending Things has recurring references to the musical: The janitor observes a school production of it, "People Will Say We're in Love" plays through a car radio, a surreal, similar Dream Ballet is featured, and the ending of the film features a performance of "Lonely Room."

Literature

Live-Action TV

  • Band of Brothers: In the ninth episode, "Why We Fight", when Nixon is giving the company a report of events from home, he mentions Oklahoma is still playing on Broadway, at which point the company starts singing the title song.
  • ER: Mark's father plays "The Surrey with the Fringe on Top" on his record player, and Mark sings along to it while shaving.
  • Freaks and Geeks: In "I'm with the Band", the school drama club performs a scene from the musical.
  • The Muppet Show: At the beginning of the Spike Mulligan episode, Fozzie sings the title song (or at least tries to) in an East Asian setting.
  • Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: "The Group Mind Has Decided You're In Love" partially spoofs "The Farmer and the Cowman" from Oklahoma!, complete with gratuitous Dream Ballet.
  • Sesame Street: A 1989 sketch has Kermit directing a production of Oklahoma! starring Forgetful Jones, who keeps flubbing the title song by forgetting the starting vowel (resulting in "A-klahoma", "E-klahoma" and "I-klahoma"). When he finally does get it right, everyone breaks for lunch.
  • Schmigadoon!: Oklahoma! is one of the small-town musicals being parodied. The flirtatious Farmer's Daughter Betsy and her trigger-happy father are analogues to Ado Annie and her father, Andrew Carnes.
  • Watchmen (2019): The show is set in Tulsa, OK. The first episode is titled "It's Summer and We're Running Out of Ice", a line from "Pore Jud Is Daid". It features an all-black production of the show, and at the end, said song plays over Judd's dead body.
  • The West Wing: In the third season episode "100,000 Airplanes", Josh tells Donna he's taking Amy to a bar/restaurant he doesn't like, because it seems the piano player only knows how to play "The Surrey with a Fringe on Top". Sure enough, when Josh and Amy are there on their date, that's what's being performed.

Western Animation

  • Futurama: In "Hell is Other Robots", a newly-religious Bender sings "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" when he shows up for work.
  • I Am Weasel: In "My Friend, the Smart Banana", Weasel is heard singing "The corn is as yellow as an elephant's..."
  • The Simpsons:
    • In "E-I-E-I-(Annoyed Grunt)", a farmer uses an elephant to determine the height of cornstalks.
    • In "Viva Ned Flanders", a Las Vegas theater marquee is advertising Okla-Homo!.
    • In "Milhouse of Sand and Fog", when Bart and Milhouse's scheme to break up Milhouse's parents backfires, Bart bemoans "Our reverse Parent Trap just made everything worse". Milhouse suggests using a different movie as their guide, like Oklahoma!, leading to an Imagine Spot of the two performing "The Farmer and the Cowman".
Milhouse: What do you think, Bart? A hoedown could solve all our problems. I just need your chap size. It's two more than your pant size.
Bart: How many times do I have to tell you no Rodgers and Hammerstein?
      Mihouse: Rodgers and Hart?
      Bart: No!
    • In "I'm Just a Girl Who Can't Say D'oh" (the title itself a reference), Llewellyn Sinclair is directing a production of Oklahoma! when the cast and crew become fed up with his attitude and boot him off.
  • Tiny Toon Adventures: In "Buster's Directorial Debut", Plucky is "rewarded" for pestering Buster with the starring role in Ducklahoma!, which mostly entails Plucky and his co-stars getting hit with anvils. Plucky is cast as Curly, Shirley is cast as Laurey, Elmyra is cast as Ado Annie, and Hamton is cast as Jud Fry.
