  • In Disney's Hercules, Phil shouts "Hey, I'm walkin' here!" after almost getting hit by a chariot.
  • In The Lion King 1 ½, Timon shouts "I'm walkin' here!" as he and Pumbaa are pushing through the crowd of animals at baby Simba's presentation.
  • In Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Albert Einstein quotes the "I'm walking here" scene.

Films — Live-Action

  • Back to the Future Part II: Marty Jr. belts out "I'm walkin' here! I'm walkin' here!" when a car almost bowls him over.
  • At one point in The Amazing Spider-Man, while flying through the city, Spider-Man yells, "Hey, I'm swinging here, I'm swinging here!".
  • In Apocalypto, one of the warriors says "Hey, I'm walking here!" after he is almost hit by a booby trap in the jungle. In Yucatec Maya, just like the rest of the movie, of course.

Literature

  • In You Look Different in Real Life, Nate tells Justine that a rabbit is named Ratso, and that he was bought from a guy on the sidewalk one night. Justine says, "Ratso Rizzo. That's a disturbingly appropriate Midnight Cowboy reference."

Live-Action TV

  • Black Books: In "He's Leaving Home", Manny is filmed discreetly while he wanders around the streets of London, to the tune of "Everybody's Talking", until he gets picked up by a shady urban character played by Omid Djalili.
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer: In Faith Hope and Trick Willow cheerfully quotes the film with, "Hey, we're walkin' here!"
  • Fargo Season One: Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers are dressed like Joe Buck and Ratzo Rizzo from the film Midnight Cowboy.
  • Seinfeld: in the episode "The Mom & Pop Store", George buys what he's told is Jon Voight's car and often sings "Everybody's Talkin'" while driving it. The end of episode also copies the bus ride at the end of the movie with Kramer and Jerry as Rizzo and Joe.
  • Fridays features a sketch with Rico Rizzo and Joe Buck in a sitcom adaptation. David Lander and Michael McKean play the respective characters.

Puppet Shows

  • The Muppets character Rizzo the Rat is also named after Ratso Rizzo.
    • Also, in a 2011 Lipton Tea commercial starring the Muppets in New York City, the song "Everybody's Talkin'" is used as background music, and at one point Animal shouts "Hey, I'm walkin' here!" (a rare departure from his usual third-person Hulk Speak) when a motorcycle almost hits him.

  • In ANNO: Mutationem, one achievement is titled "I'm walking here!", earned by making several cars in the city stop on the road.

  • Arlo the Alligator Boy: While Bertie is trying to blend in with the New Yorkers, she utters their oddly famous "I'm walkin' here"!
  • Futurama: In the episode "Brannigan, Begin Again", after Zapp and Kif are discharged from the military, they stroll around the city to the song "Everybody's Talkin'" dressed as Joe Buck and Ratso Rizzo,only with Ratso (Kif) being the prostitute.
  • American Dad!: In the episode "Irregarding Steve", Steve and Roger move to New York City in an attempt to strike it rich. When this fails, the pair begin dressing similarly to Ratso and Joe, with Roger insisting Steve becomes a prostitute.
  • The Rick and Morty episode "Total Rickall" has a character named Cousin Nicky, who turns out to be a parasite. His catchphrase is "I'm walkin' here!" in reference to the famous Throw It In! scene from Midnight Cowboy.
  • My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic: In "Griffon the Brush Off," Gilda Griffon shouts "I'm walkin' here!" when Fluttershy bumps into her, and in "Made in Manehattan," a random pony shouts "I'm trottin' here!" at a taxi.
  • Animaniacs: Pesto the pigeon's first line in "Goodfeathers: The Beginning" is "Hey, coo! I'm walkin' here!" Even though his character based on a different actor in an entirely different movie.
  • The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: In the episode "Cloud, Cloud, Go Away," while trying to shoo away a cloud that's blocking his view of the treetop he wants to bounce over, Tigger shouts "I'm bouncin' here!"
  • Hey Arnold!: In "Helga on the Couch," Helga's tirade as she shoves through the school hallway includes the line "I'm walkin' here!" She says it in the flashback to her preschool days too.
  • The Simpsons: A montage of Bart in "Beware My Cheating Bart" features a sequence of Milhouse and Bart dressed as Joe and Rico, featuring the "I'm walkin' here!" scene.
  • Steven Universe: In the first episode, "Gem Glow," Steven pesters Lars while the latter is busy stocking Big Donut with supplies, and Lars responds "Get off me, man! I'm stockin' here!"
  • Praise Petey: episode "Taxi to the South!" features Petey, a New Yorker, moving to West Carolina. After colliding with various animals, she yells "I'm walkin' here!".
  • Mission Hill: In "Plan 9 from Mission Hill (or I Married a Gay Man from Outer Space)", the film serves as a central plot point in the episode as Kevin mistakes it for a porno flick while at a theater. He ends up watching it with the theater owner Wally and it turns him into a film connoisseur.
