- In a two-part commercial for Energizer batteries, King Kong is hired by the Supervolt Battery company to destroy the Energizer Bunny. The first part has the CEO of Supervolt give Kong a card that convinces him that Energizer batteries taste like bananas, and the second part has Kong climbing the Empire State Building in pursuit of the Bunny. Just as he's about to grab the Bunny, a Fay Wray Expy slams a window on his foot, causing him to fall. While the first part of the commercial is done in color, the second part is done in black and white like the 1933 film.
- Plan 7 of 9 from Outer Space states that As You Know "...simian sentience was only recognized after a lengthy lawsuit over the controversial shooting of the extreme sport urban-climber known as King Kong."

- Jurassic Park (1993): When the tour group enters the park, Ian Malcolm says "What have they got in there, King Kong?".
- Space Jam: A New Legacy: As Al G. gets ready to take Dom's place on the Goon Squad, he boasts "King Kong ain't got nothin' on me!". The big ape himself, who happens to be attending the game, is not amused.
- Training Day: Alonzo Harris, during his arrogant, defiant speech to his neighborhood, proclaims "King Kong ain't got shit on me!".
- In Voyage of the Rock Aliens, Dee Dee lists Fay Wray and King Kong as an example of a "mixed relationship."

- Family Guy: The climax of "Hannah Banana" is an extended homage to the 2005 remake of the film, only with the roles of the ape and the pretty girl reversed.

- The second segment of "Treehouse of Horror III", "King Homer", is a spoof of the 1933 film, with Homer in the role of Kong. Much like the film the segment is based on, the segment is done in black and white.
- The Couch Gag for "Jazzy and the Pussycats" has King Homer grabbing Marge and carrying her up the Empire State Building, spoofing the 2005 remake.
- Wacky Races (1968): In "Real Gone Ape", Dick Dastardly finds a truck holding King Klong, the largest ape in captivity. Dastardly hypnotizes Klong into stopping the other racers so he can win the Wacky Race. Klong manages to capture Penelope Pitstop, and Red Max tries to rescue her with the Crimson Haybaler, his car which is part airplane.
