This page counts for both the video games and the cartoon series.
- Rebecca and the Grinning Worm is a Dark Parody of the franchise and a Take That! to the original creator's bigotry. The former of the two title characters is a Virtuous Character Copy of Psy-Crow, a trans woman raven bounty hunter who suffers PTSD not only from a war in which her girlfriend died, but from the homophobia and transphobia she's endured. Rebecca initially battles the latter title character but soon learns they have more in common than they first thought.
- Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest has several take thats to the game, done in response to the "Worm Kong" mask featured in the Sega CD version of the game resembling Donkey Kong with an arrow in his head:
- At the end of the game, when Diddy is ranked in Cranky's Video Game Heroes alongside Mario, Yoshi, and Link, Earthworm Jim's gun can be seen next to a trash can that says "No Hopers", along with Sonic the Hedgehog's red sneakers.
- In the "Swanky's Bonus Bonanza" mini-game, one of the incorrect answers to the "What is the first enemy you encounter in the game?" question is "C. An ugly earthworm".
- If you look closely on Wrinkly's promotional image, the second page on her book is a recipe for "Grammy's Worm Pie", which says "Take one ugly worm, squash it underfoot, half-bake in oven. Add groovy gravy. Don't expect to sell many, as worms are very unpopular."
- Jim's Plasma Blaster has a facsimile in Enter the Gungeon: the Heck Blaster. Its tagline is 'Whoa, Nelly!' (one of Jim's catchphrases), and, if the player also has a Drum Clip item, then, just like in its source game, the gun will slowly recover ammunition if you have fewer than 100 rounds left.
- The Angry Video Game Nerd has reviewed all three games in the main trilogy; the first two on the Sega Genesis, and the third on the Nintendo 64.
- Console Wars:
- In one episode, Greg and Dan see whether the SNES or the Sega Genesis had the better version of the first Earthworm Jim game.
- In another episode, Pat and Dan see whether the SNES or the Genesis had the better version of Earthworm Jim 2. In this episode, the duo are visited by Earthworm Jim himself, who requires their assistance in saving Princess What's-Her-Name from Psy-Crow.
- In the Fatal Fury episode, Earthworm Jim appears on an episode of Where Are They Now? Video Game Icons, wherein he is revealed to have taken up pretzel art.
- In the Road Runner's Death Valley Rally Vs. Desert Demolition episode, Earthworm Jim appears as the host of the YouTube Awards Show.
- In the Chuck Rock episode, Jim appears as one of the candidates for Pat and Dan's rock band.
- The Nostalgia Critic: In his review of Kids' WB!, the Critic reviewed the Earthworm Jim cartoon.
- Freakazoid!: In the episode Freak-a-Panel, Freakazoid complains the show's narrator is becoming too Lemony, and threatens to have him traded out for the narrator from the Earthworm Jim cartoon.
- MAD: Earthworm Jim appears in "Diary of a Wimpy Kid Icarus" as a student at Video Game School.
- Robot Chicken: A sketch from "May Cause Episode Title to Cut Off Due to Word Lim" has Earthworm Jim battle Evil Jim. When Jim finds that he and Evil Jim are evenly matched, Jim cuts himself in half in an unsuccessful attempt to make a second body. Evil Jim tells Jim that cutting Earthworms in half to make two of them is just a myth, then shoots him in the head. Jim's lower half then unsuccessfully tries to run away, to which Evil Jim says makes zero sense.
