ComicBook

  • Cyrano de Bergerac appears as a character in the French comic De Cape et de Crocs, although never named as such and only going by the name "Maître d'Armes" (weapon master). The character borrows as much from the historical character (especially for his book about travelling to the Moon) as from the character in the play (an expert swordsman and poet, who is very sensitive about his nose).

Literature

  • In There's More Than One Way Home, Val tells Anna, "I'll be just like Cyrano de Bergerac, and worship you from afar." Anna, who's a fan of the play, wonders why Roxane didn't realize she was in love with Cyrano and not Christian after hanging out with him for fifteen years.
  • In I Think I Love You, Bill complains about his job forging letters from David Cassidy. His boss says, "Look at Cyrano de Bergerac. He wrote love letters on behalf of a numbskull so that he could win the heart of a fair lady." Bill retorts that Cyrano was writing to a specific lady he loved, while Bill doesn't love a single one of the teenage girls who read his work.
  • In The Pelican & After, Deirdre takes the boys to see the movie. Tony is delighted, as most of the time they're banned from seeing anything remotely violent.

Live-Action TV

  • In The Love Boat episode "Cyrano de Bricker," a passenger wants Bricker to feed him romantic lines to win back his wife. He says, "I Saw It in a Movie Once. Cyrano de Burgerjack."
  • In The Monkees episode "Peter and the Debutante," Micky comes up with a plan for Peter to impress a girl by standing beneath her window flapping his lips while Micky and Davy yell romantic lines from the bushes. Micky says, "It worked for Cyrano de Bergerac!" After the plan fails miserably, Micky says, "Cheer up, it didn't work for Cyrano de Bergerac either."
  • The Bill. When Sergeant Bob Cryer transfers back to the Uniform Division, a cartoon of him in the station newspaper announces The Return of Cyrano De Bergerac, a riff on his prominent nose.

Music

  • Spin Doctors: Their biggest hit, "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" contains this lyric:
She hold the shotgun while you do-si-do
She want one man made of Hercules and Cyrano
