Recap / Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS Ep 5 "Rook! Fight of a Man!"

Go To

Yuga learns that Goha Corp is removing all evidence of Rush Duels from the net. But this goes to the side when the newspaper writes an insulting article on Rush Duels, prompting Rook to get revenge.

Tropes:

  • Graceful Loser: Bakuro takes his defeat against Rook very well, taking back everything he said about Rush Duels and humbly apologising to Yuga and the others.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Bakuro uses a trap card to resurrect one of his Toughroids after Rook wipes his monsters, but in doing so meets the conditions for Rush Dragon Dragears to attack twice for game, when he would have survived by a hair had he simply done nothing. Gakuto points this out after Rook wins. Doubles as Violation of Common Sense, as nobody with even the slightest amount of experience in any form of Duel Monsters would think not to summon a monster to protect themselves.
  • Internal Retcon: Goha has gone so far as to scrub the term "Rush Duels" from online search engines.
  • Malicious Slander: What Yuga and co think of the paper's article, since it dismisses Rush Duels as shallow and paints Rook as a wannabe king (though that one isn't too far off).
  • Rejected Apology: Subverted. After the Newspaper Club apologises for their Malicious Slander regarding Rush Duels, Yuga claims he doesn't accept their apology, only to admit afterward that he was joking.
  • Take That, Critics!: The newspaper's complaints about Rush Duels are similar to those made by players online about the game.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Rook actually comes out ahead this time, getting a flattering picture in the paper after winning against Bakuro.
