Recap / Yu Gi Oh GXS 2 E 89 The Darkness Within

Go To

Atticus challenges Zane to a duel who is now using his new Cyber Dark deck.

  • Adaptational Badass: The real life Cyber Dark Dragon can only take a dragon type monster from the controller's graveyard and only gains 100 attack points from every monster in the controller's graveyard. The anime version is less restrictive as seen below.
  • Evil vs. Evil: Briefly when Nightshroud returns and takes control of Atticus.
  • Jerk Jock: Zane activates his Power Wall trap card to decrease his life point loss by 100 points for every card from his deck he sends to the graveyard. He does so by tossing his cards on the ground.
  • Not Brainwashed: Zane flat out tells Atticus, "I'm not being brainwashed," and there's nothing to save him from.
  • The Power of Friendship: Attempted but defied — given what series they're in, it makes perfect sense why Sheppard would think Zane's best friend would have the power to bring him back. Unfortunately, they're not dealing with magic here, so there's nothing Atticus can do to heal him.
  • So Last Season: In the original series, Red-Eyes Black Dragon symbolized the bond between the hero and his best friend and was critical in a duel where one of them was brainwashed. Atticus now also tries to use it to free his best friend from an evil influence... but it doesn't work this time because his friend isn't being controlled by anything and changed of his own free will.
  • Superpower Lottery: Zane's Cyberdark Dragon has the ability to take a dragon monster from either player's graveyard and gain its attack points, gains an extra 100 attack points for every card he sent to the graveyard and if destroyed the attached monsters is destroyed in its place.
  • There's No Kill like Overkill: Cyber Drak Dragon takes Red Eyes Black Dragon boosting its attack from 1000 to 3400 and 100 attack for every card in his graveyard for 3700 from 37 cards to a grand total of 7100.
